Today I'm putting together some chainmail inspired metal filigree necklaces, instead of doing any /actual/ proper chainmail, becuase after making a full garment out of these same filigree connectors recently...my hands are already super callused and angry ✨
The filigree connectors: www.amazon.com/dp/B07FK9S5H4
The smaller ones: www.etsy.com/listing/51065209...
The 16mm giant jump rings: www.amazon.com/dp/B09185JNW1?...
The gunmetal ones: www.etsy.com/listing/47488417...
Jump rings in a similar pack: www.amazon.com/dp/B099NTWQ5S?...
The glass beads I used: www.michaels.com/product/blac...

But wait there's more! A PO BOX finally wahoo!
First, a disclaimer: So many of you have kindly offered to send me things, including vintage items you may have inherited, and I am so honored you would think of me and of course I do adore vintage treasures, however, unfortunately I only have so much storage space currently! So there is a chance that if something just wont work for me, or doesn't fit me etc, that I may not be able to keep all of your lovely things. Please only send things if you are okay with the possibility that I may donate items I just cannot keep. If you would prefer I put things that I can't keep into the TCH Etsy shop to help raise funds for me and the channel, please specify this in a note or letter in your parcel. Thank you so much!

1. You so badly need a one step looper for things like this! I know you are clearly very practiced at making loops, but it just makes things so much easier! 2. I think it's adorable how much you say 'I don't really know why I am trying to explain this to you, you can see what I'm doing' 🥰 Please stop putting yourself down though - it's really helpful to have the voiceover to know what size jumprings you are using and how you are attaching the bits together. Also those necklaces look absolutely stunning on you, and I shall definitely be making a version for myself, so thank you 💜

Very attractive, and a must for the Goth about town! The metal colours and overall structures of the pieces are really cool. It looks so good! The flashes of red from the garnet coloured beads in the quatrefoil necklace sets it off effectively

The Chain Mail Lady of Arisia approves. For about 10 years I taught chainmail at the SF con Arisia. [I also have a self-published book out there, though I don't mean this post to be a plug.] My classes focused on the basics ... using the techniques with beads and filigree. is a wonderful extension of the techniques.

IMO and this just may be my ADD but honestly your tutorials are some of the best here on YT. To me everything is very clearly explained and makes sense, you show as well as described what you were doing and the little bit of chatter just makes it feel more natural as if I happen to be in the studio with you verses the other side of a screen. Okay now to the pretty shiny things, I just love that brass and green combo and that gunmetal and red screams goth. I personally would have played with resin on the dangles as they remind me of stained glass windows. I so cannot wait for this look book. And don’t feel bad about the hair, I haven’t had a hair cut other than the dead trim I give myself for about a year now lol.

And this is the point where I turn deep green with envy at all of you who do not have the nutso metal allergies I do. Those are gorgeous! I will again live vicariously--thank you for sharing and allowing me to do so! 😃
@lizcademy4809
@lizcademy4809 29 күн бұрын
Titanium might not ping your allergies ... it's more expensive and hard to work with, but if it's ok for you it might be worth it. Most chain mail suppliers will carry titanium rings ... my favorite but completely non-affiliated supplier is The Ring Lord. There might also be plastic filigree pieces, or you could 3D print them.
@alisa9040
@alisa9040 29 күн бұрын
Assuming that you are allergic to every metal in the world: have you heard of tatting? It's a way to make lace by tying knots. It's really labor intensive, but is really sturdy. I bet you could incorporate beads into that as well. In addition, you could make a friendship bracelet style choker in all sorts of patterns. (Same type of knots as tatting, actually.) You could also crochet and make cool things with that.
@VeretenoVids
@VeretenoVids 28 күн бұрын
@@alisa9040 I've not tested every thing in the world, but basically high quality white gold is about the only thing that will not cause my special snowflake skin to freak out. So I'm expensive. 😂 I do know what tatting is and I knit (and, yes, sometimes the needles make my hands angry) and weave bands, so, yes I could stop whining and do something about it. 😉
@VeretenoVids
@VeretenoVids 28 күн бұрын
@@lizcademy4809 I haven't tried titanium. Is that the metal that they basically need the jaws of life to break if you need to have a ring or something removed in an emergency?
@lizcademy4809
@lizcademy4809 28 күн бұрын
@@VeretenoVids I don't know about that ... titanium is very hard and brittle, so I don't think it would make a good safety ring. When my daughter was in her high school Goth phase, and I taught her how to make chainmail, she made a "permie" choker for herself. I insisted (and she understood why) that she close it with a single red ring, the only one on the choker. It was aluminum, could be twisted off by strong hands if necessary, and the rest of her work would not be ruined. She did not have metal allergies to worry about.
