It's weird because I've never liked dragonflies either. I find them creepy as well. I think the koi fish idea would be beautiful with shades of white and orange iridescent beads & sequins.

There are some professionals beaders! Some Haute Couture houses bought some prestigious ateliers in the last decade to save those crafts. The most well known is Lesage, but you can also find Atelier Montex that does it with incredible new materials like beads made from concrete. Anyway, I love watching you do it. 😍It feels like being in one of those creative houses.❤

Thank you! I suppose I have Lesage filed as embroiders in my brain for some reason, but mostly /with/ beads and sequins of course 😂 I guess most professional embellishing experts do both embroidery and beadwork. I tried to take Lesage's summer course back during university, but they were fully booked the year I was in Paris. I was able to take a day class on tambour from the RSN in England though, and the guest teacher was an American professor...who had studied at Lesage! So many layers of telephone, but I was glad to learn the skill any way I could 😅✨

I guess I could see how some might find dragonflies icky, but I have always liked them personally. I love the shiny wings and the sounds they make as they fly around. Also they are great to have around if you live in a heavy mosquito area as they will chow down on them like crazy. I love these broaches, I really DO NOT need another hobby but dang if I don’t wanna make one or ten for myself.

I got so excited seeing this thumbnail, and enjoyed the whole video. I love the heraldic/medieval inspired stuff you've been doing lately! I'm part of a nonprofit organization that does medieval education and reenactment, and raises money for other charities through live steel sword fighting. This beetle exactly matches the quartering of the shield for our heraldry. A fun fact for you: the bowl shaped thing at the center of a shield is called a shield boss. I love that the beetle got its own tiny boss!

LOL cats and seltzer.... I knew a horse who was terrified yet intrigued by the coach's thermos and she eventually had to get a plastic one cause he broke three glass ones by suddenly poking then... and my bunny does that anytime anything new is on "his" carpet... and he bolts when I sneeze... my last one was fine with sneezes but panicked at sudden laughter... I hope your Seltzer Incident was less exciting to clean up than my Turneric Incident, where the gremlin that usually lives in my computer decided to vacation in my tea cabinet and shoved the jar of coffee out causing a pyrex measiring cup full of turmeric tea to somersault through my kitchen, hitting the fridge, the stove, the upper cabinet, the base cabinets in front of the sink and across the kitchen, the dishwasher and of course the floor. And me. Thankfully it's a transent dye and faded out of the linoleum relatively quickly. Always love beetle content! Amusingly enough I found a shieldbug in my house last week (it's frigging winter, dunno where it came from) but I don't know where it went. Oh well. I'm sure the bunny will find it and be terrified yet curious.

I mean, I think the obvious choice for potential new animals/creatures to adapt into beadwork are reptiles. Snakes or lizards- ooh, what about crocodilians? Even if you just go off of what actually exists (which you don't usually do, but y'know, it might be easier to take inspiration from reality) there are a whole BUNCH of awesome morphs, and the scales will translate really well to beads, texture-wise. Honey, take as long as you need- I just come here to sit and listen to you talk for the most part, so the project being a repeat really doesn't matter to me (though, to be honest, a different version of the same thing is a completely different thing, in my eyes).

I enjoy watching you create the beetles....question- are the flat sequins colorfast? I noticed many of the cupped crafting sequins are not.

Thank you! The satin finish sequins and the opaque are colorfast, the colored metallic ones tend to be more sensitive to their environment, so I try to handle them as little as possible 😅

I’m addicted to your videos. Would you be able to suggest a good “how to make block patterns” I’m very intimidated by the process but I’m willing to give it a go. I do better with instructions via books augmented by videos.

There's something you need to do to harden the wire. I forgot what it called but lemme find a video after yours is over. Birds would be pretty too. Those blue parrots are so pretty It is just called hardening 😂kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d9iAh9Vms77PZmQ.htmlsi=cy0Xgv0gmidIymhI

I have got to try my hand at beading! To be able to create wearable art on clothes that I have made for myself, that thought gives me the drive to get some projects out of the way so I can make art clothes! And as I was watching, I noticed your 💄 💋 May I please have the name and brand as it looks gorgeous!?! Thank you, Ms. Sparkle! May all of your endeavors be 🙌 blessed. 🖖🪺🐈‍⬛🧘‍♀️📚🫖
