The Monte Carlo should get a ZZ 383. At 450 HP that is putting down big block numbers.

I love that you made it all Buick. Not enough classy car guys anymore. LS swaps getting real played out. For the Monte, a real sassy 305 could be fun, 350 even more fun. 454 is always a good move too.

The Buick 455 is a very potent engine. Stock they would regularly outrun the Hemí the LS6 Chevelle. I have a '70 GSX it is putting down 560 HP . I am not scared of anything.

350 would be dope in the monte, throw in a circle track grind 240 - 250 @ .050 on a 106 lsa and it'll be mean but still driveable.

Someone already commented about a 350/383 my thoughts would be to keep it under 10 to 1 on the compression so you can maybe look at a boosting it down the road. I'd stay away from a dump exhaust a full 3"or 4" exhaust where you can hear your lumpy cam thru it would be a nice change.

I was on a real tight budget and couldn’t find an overdrive transmission that was cheap enough maybe in the future though

It'll save you on the RPM and improve your gas mileage my 86 Limited came with a 307 and a 200-C I changed that out to a 200-R4 currently it has a 350 Buick in it, I'm building a 71 350 Olds Block with 68 #5 Heads W-31 Specs@@GbodyMedia

Not sure about the W31 Specs on a 68 350 But that set of #5 heads will wake your 350 right up. I Used them on a few 403s over the years with great success. Not Sure if Mondello Machine still does port work but if they do its worth every penny on those heads.@@soulfultenor

@tazguy25 they are W-31 spec heads, I have the large valves installed, they came from California, a guy that worked for Mondello, I have valve seats installed and the 3 angle valve job. So when I say it's a W-31 Spec, it is; the W-31 itself came with the #5 heads with the (W-30 455) Valves
