In this video we will show how to make a knife. This is a kitchen knife for working with meat and fish. We will make this knife from an old feed cutter. What kind of steel I do not know, but for many years it was used in the feed cutter and after hardening the usual drill on the metal could not drill a hole for this I used cobalt drill bit.
While making this knife, I encountered two problems.
The first problem: This is when I kept the blank of the knife in the fire longer than necessary, after which it just melted. Fortunately, I found another blank and a spare knife from the feed cutter. And the second problem was the delit of the filmed material from the memory card. And so it happens. At first I thought not to release this material but I want to show what problems you may encounter while making a knife.
I use grinder a to form the knife. After hardening the knife, I use sandpaper and water to remove all the black plaque.
For the manufacture of the knife handle, I used ash burl. Extremely beautiful wood texture. I used epoxy resin and a 10 mm copper tube to secure the knife handle.
