So seeing that the key elements were AWD and putting the center of mass as far forward as possible, we can conclude that Audi builds their cars for wall-climbing.

I was actually laughing out loud watching this. It’s such an over the top solution to something so trivial. It reminded me of the sandlot or over the hedge. Both movies are about getting something behind a ridiculously simple barrier and the characters coming up with absurdly overthought solutions over and over again.

I really like the idea of a car that brings it's own stilts to climb over obstacles. I wonder if rollers on the sides of the stilt "feet" would help eliminate some of the dragging you were experiencing.

On flat surfaces yes. I think a more stable option is to add 1 more at there is always 2 feet on the ground. This action would support the vehicle while its center of mass traveled over the middle of the tower and prevent that tipping issue

I work with people with disabilities, all of whom are wheelchair bound (I'll call them mobility aids henceforth). There's so much space in that particular area for innovation to provide quality of life improvements. I actually have a few ideas but I don't know how to go about realizing them. I've also seen some really interesting stuff that involves mobility aids navigating terrain and climbing stairs. I think it's a really overlooked area because the benefit to the individual far outweighs the effort to bring it to fruition. I mean I've seen examples where a mobility aid can even transition onto its two front wheels to bring the person using it up to eye level with their company, which is really important psychologically. It also helps navigate a bipedal centric world easier. And the same example could climb stairs. But that was still prototype level stuff, and a lot of the ideas I have center on other quality of life areas that could be implemented rapidly because they don't rely on emerging tech or anything like that. Anyone have ideas on where I should focus my energy to maybe make some of this stuff in my head real? I hate seeing the people I care and work for suffer or be inconvenienced simply because smart people haven't made simple, easily applied options offered to them. I guess I'm venting but this seemed as good a venue as any from what I've seen from this channel and it's likely viewers.

Up until level 5, the strategies you used verified the conventional wisdom of my other hobby, RC crawler trucks. Weight to the front, more ground clearance, and a smooth belly help drag over real world obstacles too. Would be interesting to see if the dirty trick in crawling helps you too: adding weight to the tires to help keep from rolling over

My question is this, if it were scaled for some of the mega builds that we’ve seen on discovery and the like, how long do you think an operation like Level 6 would feasibly take? A day? A couple days? The weight alone of something capable of lifting that weight high enough to be “stable” to navigate over a wall blows my mind, not to mention the mechanics and physics behind all of it

With this video being inspired by another we get to see two completely different styles to complete what is the same task, and I LOVE it. One shapeshifts to suit the climb, the other retains its 'car' state. Both are fascinating on both engineering and just defying what any normal person would consider logic. Just beautiful. Though, a moment of silence for whoever was driving the car at 3:23 and 4:23 o.o
