I'm waiting on delivery of my table and have been surfing around for tricks. The canvas thing is new to me - thanks. I've got some tips for you too. I've got cad/cam background just not fusion. If you're designing something with symmetry like the KZfaq button, just draw one side and mirror it to the other. Also, your construction line for spelling out KZfaq could have been an offset from the bottom of the button. Basically, just copy/mirror existing geometry when you can rather than redrawing the same things over and over.

Great vid I definitely got something from watching it! I do have a question or two..... First any regrets on the razorweld plasma aside from limiting to cutting thin stuff and if so what will you get to replace it someday? Secondly my biggest question!!!! That local 697 sign is very clean as in you have some thin areas that seemed to have cut very nice which brings me to the question are you using standard consumables and or what tip sizes are you using as this is new to me? Thanks in advance.
@SpicerDesignsLLC
@SpicerDesignsLLC 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I don't have any regrets on the razor weld. It was plug and play for the table, and at the time I was starting out with a new machine I knew nothing about. I would definitely say its an entry level machine but that's what I wanted. Its definitely not the best plasma cutter but I've cut up to 3/16 with it no problem. Anything bigger than that im not really equip to handle. I guess it all depends on your intentions with the machine. I am running standard consumables. Ive cut some pretty thin sections in some designs and haven't had an issue. Hopefully that answered your questions. thanks

I certainly can make one for you. They are 24” diameter. I sell them for $100 plus shipping. They are the old version of the bug with 15 bolts fyi. How does this compare to using a water jet cutter?
@SpicerDesignsLLC

Not to sure on that. Ive hooked up water jets before at my day job as an electrician. It seems like there is a lot more moving parts with a water jet and im not sure if they cut as fast. But dont take my word for it. Sorry im not much help on that one.

I'm just now trying to learn more about cnc plasma tables but I used to run a large waterjet at my old job and they have a LOT of maintenance requirements and the invoices I seen were very expensive because most people don't realize that it isn't just water that's used but also a fine ground garnet with the high pressure water is what cuts the material..that garnet fills the tub up and must be removed and that's exspensive also ...I believe laser cutting is the best but very costly to get into and plasma seems to be the best way to get started for me atleast.... main point is waterjet cutting has alot of hidden costs associated with it

Does it use a hand held plasma cutter if not which cnc table does
@ironhide3259
@ironhide3259 Жыл бұрын
Waterjet will generally have cleaner cuts with smaller kerf (width of the cut) and almost zero draft (plasma will leave a slight angle from top of cut to bottom). Waterjet also introduces zero heat to the parts so warping and property changes like hardening or softening at the edge of the cut don't occur. But a waterjet machine takes up alot of space, is expensive to operate (as some have mentioned), and price wise start 15 to 20x more expensive than this little plasma table.
@Kaiju3301
@Kaiju3301 Жыл бұрын
Water jet can cut through just about any material, greater thickness, and cuts cleaner. The water jet is much more expensive than the plasma table though so unless you need the extra performance, the plasma table is just fine.

Sounds like your running a nice shop and making some cool stuff. Im not an expert with CAD by any means. I just work with Fusion 360. I tried Inkscape to create vector files but I didn't like all the points it creates for curved lines. So I usually just trace everything from scratch with the CAD tools. As far as the bridges, there are no tools to make them that I know of. I add them all in manually. I use the text on path all the time though. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
