Human Revolution and Mankind Divided were worthy bearers of the Deus Ex name. Great mechanics, great stories and wonderful atmosphere and music. I loved the original but these games really updated it in the right way (even if I missed the larger environments that the original had). Really hope that the story will be continued at some point.

I mean, to each their own I suppose. I thought that Mankind Divided's story and writting was bloody awful in comparison to OG Deus Ex and Human Revolution(which in at itself wasn't all that well written as well in hindsight). It doesn't help that Mankind Divided's attempt at adapting and handling real world subject matters into the universe was not only extremely poorly executed but also poorly written as well and was about as subtle about it as being smacked across the face with a brick. The level design, art design, and soundtrack may have all been great but everything else surrounding it was done so poorly that it brought down the entire game as a whole. Also, Eidos Montreal's handling of the Czech language was not great to say the least.

Even the studio has a gold tint to it. Still a gem of a game a decade later.

I loved Human Revolution while playing it but I may have been harshly critical about the story which had a confused message about cybernetics, having the money to enhance yourself, being a user of prosthetics and being a victim of oppression equating it to victims of racism and others... Even though, harsh and all, my criticism of that may be fair, in retrospect I see how it was superior to Cyberpunk 2077 and it's sad that the franchise has been victim to Square Enix's greed, using it for its preorder plans, screwing with the controls of MD which made an otherwise amazing game needlessly feel weird to play with, and cutting content from it/rushing it. I wish it makes a comeback, and one that is fully confident in itself. The immersive sim is a genre unlike any other.
