Did anyone else notice that when Earl tells Greg to get Rachel ice cream, the three of them actually get popsicles that aren’t ice cream at all? Similarly, when Earl tells Greg to give Rachel a romantic relationship, he gives her a platonic friendship instead, that just like the popsicles, could easily be seen as an inferior offering by him.

In the book, Greg thinks that some circumstances (and his own teenage thinking) are forcing him to be with Rachel romantically, but it just doesn't work out because he wasn't attracted to her. Still, their platonic relationship was so strong so her death was heartbreaking to him, which is the same emotion he'd feel if they were boyfriend and girlfriend.

Earl defo shipped Greg and Rachel but he wasn't that aggressive. probably was just an idea cause he knew Rachel would be dying single and he thought it was a shame hahaha

11:38 no one could've played Earl but him. He wasn't 5ft and didn't know how to high kick people(up for debate), but he had this certain energy that got me to love him so much, as much as I did in the book

Yeah I forgot Earl was supposed to be short that's why he needs to be tough all the time (and considering he lives on the rough side of Pitt and has a troubled family).

Olivia Cooke's real accent is that working-class English accent. I really haven't heard her use her real accent in her projects, but then again, I don't watch a lot of her film/tv.

Thank you so much for uploading this! The movie was sadly overlooked which is a shame. Any idea of whether or not the original music composed for this project will ever be released?
@lucinaburgos22845 жыл бұрын
you can get the whole soundtrack online
@saturdayers5 жыл бұрын
What I’m referring to is the original score composed for this movie exclusively - not the music the team had chosen which previously existed.

Disappointing that this film didn't make much in the box office. It's an amazing film. I guess people got tired of these kind of films after the "Fault in Our Stars."

6:38 I think this is the first time I heard this quote from the director and it's so right. For one, these two teens recently rekindled their friendship from when they were just kids. Although you can tell that Greg was dealing with teenage hormones throughout the film cause he has implied/imagined a what-if romantic relationship with Rachel. Still, he knows it's too early, but sadly Rachel died young eventually and so he never got to find out. Damn, and Greg asking Rachel out to dance, that's my boy!!! But yeah, in the end, this was just a doomed yet deep friendship movie

Had she felt a little bit better, like how she was in the first half of the movie, she would have definitely gone out with him to prom. Especially, given how much she wanted him to vanquish his social fobias and insecurities; she just wanted him to see himself as she saw him. It really shows how sometimes we're unhappy with ourselves until we find someone who is perfectly happy with us.

In the book, Greg was, according to Greg himself (though he has some self-esteem issues) is slightly overweight, Earl is 5 feet tall, and Rachel is homely looking with big teeth.
