THE LIST OF THINGS WE CAN POSSIBLY DO FOR LAUNCH:
- 4 Stages for Act 1 and Act 2 (+4 levels total)
- 3 Stage 1 Levels for Act 1 and Act 2 (+2 levels total)
- Minibosses for door events and The Summit
- Event fights to keep things fresh (like The Legion Sentinel spawning for a round)
- Alternative Bosses (so more Sentinels so you don't fight The Blade Sentinel every time in Act 1)
- Traversal Objects (climbing vents, balance poles, monkey bars, etc)
- Actual Story (with voice acting and narrative progression through wins / deaths)
- Level Activities (minigames in the level similar to dungeons)
- Whatever else we discuss

Ah yes, a "pretty decent" game that I have put over 90 hours into since before the current version was even available in the super secret beta. Just decent. A decent game that I am going to have played more than Titanfall 2 in due time. You've got a goddamn gem of a game, dude. One of the best movement shooters I've ever played!

i liked the dash points :( anyways i think event fights and minibosses would be pretty cool to see, i was really intrigued when i played Darktide and saw how they did stuff like that, it even inspired me to actually make a similar feature for my game

we truly leave in a time where small indie projects are somehow more enjoyable by AAA studio games, I am so glad a game like this exists and I pray for it to be the best you can possibly make it, cheers to you Andrew 🍻

Alternative bosses is definitely cool. Keeps you on your toes. More event fights is interesting. Thus far, the only ones we have are variations of "stand in this spot and kill stuff." We could have time trials, special minibosses, or just the good 'ol "kill x enemies." The challenge totems from an earlier build come to mind. As for story, the Scriptorum's a good place to start. We've already got some crumbs to work off of, and more entries would definitely help flesh things out. However, we could also have notes left behind by other Artifact Hunters, what they found, why they were there, etc...

I'm glad to see you pulled through my boi. If it helps, this game has come a long way. The weapons are slick as, the movement is crisp, it's arcadey as fuq and a hell of a dose of dopamine to the brain. You should be proud. If I were to vote for a couple things in the Do List, I think I would opt for traversal objects and if not an actual story, at least some compelling means of presentation throughout the game. (I've said this before but I'd look to a game called Distance which I think nails the kind of presentation I think would suit GTTOD.) Anyway, incredible work Mr. Smith and as always it is truly something inspiring to follow your journey.

I'm not a game developer, so I don't really know what I'm talking about when writing this long ass thing... But during the combat (especially while at the orange door) I always felt like I could turn off my brain a bit and enter a loop of: wall run all over the place, shoot some guys, throw a grenade and punch people while my gun is reloading. And looking back on it, I think what would really compliment the game's movement system is something like the cloaker from payday or more accurately the ninjas from mirror's edge. Not necessarily to the point of being completely unstoppable without endgame gear/ 1000's of hours of experience, but an enemy that will chase you down and be more than capable of keeping up with you and giving you a run for your money. Giving the player a sense of urgency to move quickly or else they get sacked by a flipping legend (literally) And having some kind of an area denial enemy would be a good idea to keep the player from just camping and chaining the same wall runs off of the same areas. A good example might be a spider that makes webs. Such webs could hamper player movement, and punish players that keep going the same routes. IDK but those are my two cents on enemy variety and keep the player thinking about where they're running and what they should be shooting at.

What about a curse that, when you fire, you get launched back and depending on the power of the weapon launches you diffrent heights. This would be great as it would add a new way to move around.

Tbh, i think the risk of rain aproach is fine, im mostly concerned with long term progression, as this game has a skill ceiling which would take some time to master, a long term progression would work wel along with that, like killing floor 2

This game is an absolute banger. I've never played a game like this before and I love it. That said, my Christmas list (you better fucking have it done by Christmas) is Actual Story (lol), Minibosses, and Level Activities. Based on the narrow peek into the story that I have already, the story could be really interesting even if it keeps this pretty mysterious vibe and indirect storytelling.

I found this game from Funke's video on movement shooters, and have been loosely following development since. One thing he mentioned as a point of improvement was to have more enemies that could match the player's top speed, things like flying or wall running enemies that try and hunt the player down more than the normal mobs. Having these as minibosses would be absolutely incredible, but making them a minboss early and then as a semi-rare spawning mob later would both put pressure on the player early on to master the systems, ensuring that when they show up later in the context of other mobs all trying to swarm you, it adds just enough challenge for players who have already mastered the system. Honestly, whatever you do with this game, I'm sure that it's going to turn out great. You've clearly got a talent for game development, and I look forward to seeing all of the great things that you produce, both with GTTOD and beyond!

I think the story is a must, the traversal objects and alt bosses are close ties for second, and the minibosses and event fights are probably 3rd esp because they could maybe be coupled together. more Level activities, extra levels per stage is important but I feel like the level layouts are already diverse enough (I guess I cant talk tho since I always go thru all of the levels using wall) or at least I like them enough to play them over and over and over and the core gameplay loop of Getting To The Orange Door is, IMO, perfect but could use variety to suit other fans needs (which is fine, all the possible things is good IMO because, well more GTTOD is more GTTOD regardless).

hey here to give feedback First of all i really like the game it is impresive what you managed to pull off, the feedback i'm going to give does not represent my idea of the game, i just think that this aspect in particular could be improved and it is possible that i'm just not the right audience i apologize in advance if im being impertinent (also english isn't my first language). When starting a new run i notice it takes a long time for me to get a gear that isn't just the default gun and even when i do it is often just weapons and gadgets that don't combine really well with each other. I have to go grab a gun again and again opening chest and all to get interesting combination. I think it could help to have multiple random options when grabing a gun or a chest instead of one imposed item it would make it feels like more strategizing and less griding. And maybe something to make you're first weapon/gadget cheaper or something.

I think more early level variety is the most important addition this game needs. Mini Bosses and traversal objects would be #2 and also help add to the variety of the game. "More stuff to do" I think one thing that would be cool is to have traversal only areas between levels where you only do platforming stuff with no enemies. Could give you a break from the constant action and I also just love having fun with only the movement :)

my personal list on what should be prioritised would be: Level activities Story Alt bosses minibosses event fights Traversalobjects than the last two mainly cause i personaly would like to see more activities or things to do aside from run and gun to the exit, and well the story i would LOVE to see what your cooking up cause i like the visuals of the world and im curious about what it will become with a proper narritive (kinda like whats seen in the totorial however thats spelled and sorry for the bad spelling/grammer) other than that tho i love the game and im glad i found it!

dude i don't know if you remember this but about a year ago, i made a comment on one of your videos about things i thought were really cool and things that could be improved. my biggest want, to this day, is the story. You have these incredible levels, this addicting gameplay, this fantastic enemy design. I just want to know how they tick. Who are they? Where do they come from? There's a reason risk of rain's story put me off from the game, because it almost wasnt there to begin with. Drop those little lore bits for dumbass theorists like me, who want to get lost and immersed in this world. You have a great foundation, now give me a bit of the rest. Thank you for all of your work so far. The game has come such a long way and I love all of the progress that you've made. The game is one of my favorite sit down and chill with my friends in a discord call while we rant about our lives. So even if story gets put on the tbd content list, I will still support your game, your career, and your endeavors. Thank you andrew :D

My thing with the enemy variety is that even though there are loads of cool guys that all look and sound different, fighting them is all the same, apart from maybe meleeing shield guys all the enemies to boil down to moving fast and shooting

Idk, i'm not sure if gttod needs much more story, than it's already in the game. I think player will be more interested in knowing story if it will be a bit of hidden. Like... In Hollow Knight. Main thing about the game is a gameplay already, so if storytelling should be kinda integrated in gameplay. I'm not telling if that's the way it must be but... More like should be and most likely will be. And last for today, but not the least: MISTER FUCKING ANDREW: stop focusing on negative reviews already! C'mon, some people may be objective about certain things, but someone will be a hater, a mislover of such kind of games or just a dick. You're literaly wasting your fucking nerves on them. and... one little thing. In discord we were discussing... ok, i just brought up rewarding players, who do some tricks and stuff. not like in ultrakill, more like in earlier versions of gttod, like doubling the damage when you're wallrunning and things. What do you think of it?
