It's Friday, so it's time for this week's 'Tea Reads' episode! In this video, I'm joined by my Mum (Donna), and we share our regular Friday routine of a teatime chat about books over tea and a sweet treat. In our 'Tea Reads' episodes, we'll be sharing great short reads that can be enjoyed in the time it takes to drink a cup of tea. Today's episode is a Thanksgiving special, and my Mum and I make a no-bake pumpkin cheesecake and share some favourite Thanksgiving reads.

Miranda, Donna saying how thankful she was for you made me cry..(it was so beautiful)..I grew up without my Mother because she passed away Dec 4, 1984 but when I had my own daughter it was like walking on air so I truly felt Donna’s words 🥰(hopefully I stay pretty cool to her when she grows up)I’m so thankful for finding your KZfaq Channel this year at the beginning of the Pandemic...because of your channel I’ve read more and purchased more books than I have in my entire life..(and that’s not an exaggeration)..my Goodreads Goal for 2020 is pretty Fantastic 😀(I surpassed it)...That pumpkin cheesecake looks so delicious my favorite dessert is sweet potato pie..(I can eat a whole one by myself) Thank you again for another Great video 🥰🥰🥰....

So thankful for you both! This was wonderful and like Donna, I have very dear memories of my respective grandmothers’ trifles brought out in special cut-glass bowls at Christmas. Each one made slightly differently but both loved and looked forward to all year! So pleased your move and new life in Yorkshire is everything you wanted it to be and thank you so much for sharing all this with us. X

I have a special memory of one Thanksgiving where my father drove us up from Detroit to my uncle's home in Lansing, Michigan to spend the holiday. My Aunt June made a special pie, a pumpkin chiffon pie, that just melted in our mouths. I think she added unflavored gelatin to make the pumpkin filling so light. I have never forgotten that pie! Also, I think Donna mentioned that she enjoys stories of pioneers in the American west. Would you please ask her if she has ever read Letters of a Woman Homesteader by Elinore Pruitt Stewart. I think she would enjoy that book. It was also made into a lovely movie called "Heartland."

Dear Miranda and Donna, I am thankful for your weekly tea reads and all your lovely bookish episodes, book club chats, and Miranda's Instagram, too. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed all of these. I look forward to them with anticipation as they inspire and uplift and echo my interests in reading, art, cooking, history, and culture. I am very glad that you both are happy and well in Yorkshire, and have to say, your neighbors are so lucky! Lisa xx PS. We moved back to the US from London two years ago, but in my soul, I will always be a Londoner. And this year, for our Thanksgiving feast sans guests, we dined on bangers (Turkish sucuk) and mash. :)

This is too funny. American here! Watching this in 2023, the day after Thanksgiving. Yes, it is the New England Patriots, and after a couple decades of absolute domination in the NFL, the quarterback left the team and they've struggled since then (3 years ago, I believe). And also yes, it is Macy's that hosts the big parade in NYC, but it's not the only one, nor was it the first Thanksgiving parade in The US!. Gimble Bros. in Philadelphia sponsored the very first one.

We sometimes had mincemeat pies as a kid, but there was never any meat in it. I mostly remember the raisins and it was very sweet. "Mincemeat is a mixture of chopped dried fruit, distilled spirits and spices, and sometimes beef suet, beef, or venison. Originally, mincemeat always contained meat. Many modern recipes contain beef suet, though vegetable shortening is sometimes used in its place."
