Making small batch maple syrup: is our season over?

Күн бұрынMaple syrup season hasn't been long, or that fruitful but then out of nowhere... So we're looking at next steps, possibilities and discussing this weeks offerings video wise, plus look back at 2024's sugaring so far. Maybe for good?
Who knows, time will tell... if I'm lucky.

Thanks for sharing I’m doing my last boil today here in Western Maine I hopefully end up with a few gal of syrup very happy most of the maple people around here are upset with a short season this year. Myself I’m happy with what we have enough to share with family and friends. I’ve got a group of friends that do small amounts of maple syrup and I believe we are only maple perducers that are happy about what we got

Thanks for watching! It'd for sure be a tough run if this was an income stream for someone with the weather lately, but totally agree that for private reserve syrup, it's just fine and dandy. We have enough for us, some for the family and close friends so we're sorted out 🍁😎

Great video,i hope the sap keeps flowing for you.I actually healed a bit and tapped a couple trees on tuesday,today ill check to see what i have ,wish me luck and say hi to Miss Lady

Wait, you Canadians get 2 Maple Syrup Seasons! It all makes sense now, pretty soon you will have to start measuring your yearly finished syrup in gallons! Such a fun video!

😂😂😂 It would be amazing if we did get another chance to boil more down, but we'll see. I'm holding off on the big cleanup until I see what the week brings.. my least favourite part of sapping is the scrubbing and sanitizing, but what can you do? Thanks for hanging out again!

Another awesome video Jay. Kinda Jealous you might get to do a part II. But then again I got 13 gallons of my private reserve syrup is good for us lol. Plus have stuff on my plate, so much stuff lol, to get done and started. Was a great time watching you syrup videos my friend. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Excellent editing too.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉.

Thanks Chris! I hear you, all the spring projects are starting to stare me in the eye and they're not blinking lol. We'll see about season 2! Weather is getting stranger by the hour. Thanks for hanging out with me! 😀

No buds here either, sap flow stopped though. We had temps in the 60’s this past week ( up to 20 c) and next week it’s going to that freeze/thaw cycle again. Hopefully nights in the 20’s (-5c) stimulate sap flow again.

We just did our third and final boil. 3.5 litres. I'm sure there will be more after the cold snap they are predicting next week but that's enough for us.

3.5 litres is perfect! Loads for the year and great for gifts, awesome job! I'm still holding out to see if we really get anything volume wise worth boiling, but seeing as we're just over 1.5 litres I wouldn't mind a tad more... though if that's all we get, I'll still be pleased as punch. 🍁😃

I'm not really sure what species it is, other than maple. Definitely going to have to try and figure that out this summer. Need a 23andMe for trees lol. 😂🍁
