For those made uncomfortable by the - She Who Will No Longer Be Named - pun in the intro, my apologies profusely! I didn't think that a pun on the name would be offensive/bring any harmful thoughts/memories to anyone's head. However, I recognize that I am not in the group that is as effected, and therefore probably didn't think it through as much as I should have. I will try and do better in the future! I love all of you, and want you to only come to my vids for fun and to learn some new tabletop crafting :) I hope you are all having a fantastic day

The vein of holo in the wild magic dice makes me think of a geode. Maybe shelling the dice with a brown/gray/gunmetal mica and filling the molds with a purple/holo mica resin would create an amethyst geode effect? Or, you know, whatever other gem you might want to try for. Could be neat?

They do look great. With the Mica shell though it might be a good idea to get some clear coat on them to prevent it from chipping off. Never worked with resin so this probably wouldn't work but could a thin coat of resin be applied to the molds then blow/lightly brush Mica onto it before curing and filling? Main issue I can think of with this idea is that the shell would be fragile and could be broken while filling.

For the colours for the black dragon ancestry: Silver both works because ancient black dragons have silver in their colour palette and it would contrast nicely. Alternatively, if that just sounds too samey since silver works really well almost universally, perhaps alternating light green on the black and a stormy grey on the green? Also the dice look gorgeous, glad to have you back man and I hope the move went smoothly

I really really love the vein of holo through the wild magic set, and I actually also kinda love how the sanding created a slightly rougher looking sorta window into the holo underneath. It brought this cool idea of wild energy pushing out through the cracks and then exploding/leaking from the 1's face, which just feels really in line with the class, so yeah. Gorgeous dice. The idea behind the black dragon set was awesome even if it didn't quite get the full effect you were after this time around.

These are awesome! I have used the same technique with peacock nail powder and it turned out incredibly shiny and sparkly! I also had a problem with sanding them down, but you can use a sort of adhesive plus a bit of extra mica powder to fix up some of the areas that aren't quite perfect if you're going for a uniform look. I would be interested in experimenting a bit more with the vein of holo resin coming through the mica powder shell... looks like a potential to make some cool gem-like dice! (I just looked and noticed that I'm not the only one who thought this!) Thanks for the video, and I am psyched to see what you come up with for some of the other classes!

for the mica powder on sides of mold, when done in cosplay with metals (like you put metal powder on sides of mold then fill up with resin after) most people usually call it "cold casting". it's something that some people do to be able to "buff" the prop to a better metal finish than paints can create.

I do an "inverted petri" type where i put a drop of ink in the mold before adding resin, add another drop after filling halfway, and then topping it off. Cap molds of courses lol Helps to rub the mold with resin first to avoid soft spots. The fun part is that you definitely lose some of the ink while polishing, and wind up with a very random texture around the dice. Try it!

For the draconic ancestry dice you should ink them like a color shifting or metallic green!

Seeing your videos has made me want to start making dice myself. Bought most of the stuff from your basics video and although I wanted to use the metal dice you use for your molds, they were unavailable so I went with the (their phrasing, not mine) ugly set of gamescience dice for the sharper edges (Sadly the caltrops have the tips cut, but it does make them look pretty unique too) for use of my molds. Thinking of making either a fire set for my fiendish pact warlock, or a metalic set for my battle master fighter :P

The mica shell technique reminds me of the cold casting technique for creating resin props with a metal outer shell that after gentle sanding looks like metal. If you are unfamiliar with this, I'd recommend checking out Punished Props' videos on cold casting, maybe it's something you can try for a metallic dice set!

For the petri method, you need something to sink the ink -- usually it's the white ink because it's heavier, but you can also do it with the resin (like in the d6) You can also try putting your drops of ink on the bottom part with the already cured resin and then pouring your clear in, it'll help swirl it up if you don't want any white :)

So beautiful *---------* my cap molds tend to build a layer of resin making the top side a little elevated, any tips on that?
@MaethorDerien

The trick to this would actually be to use a double mold where you just make a smaller numberless dice(you make it the exact size to just fit perfectly where it would be touching the numbers of the bigger dice mold) using the mica powder and then just use clear when you do the outer shell. That gets you the look with a clear protective layer. It also means that you won't have an issue with wear from usage or scratching.

the mica shelling is something called cold casting but normally you use metallic powder.

I would really like to see you make an attempt at some frosted dice. I recently made some for myself using white and blue alcohol ink along with some white mica powder. Then once the dice were finished I went back and used a paint brush to dry brush the edges of the dice giving it a look like frost was forming on the corners of the dice. If you could try something similar I’d love to see it so I can see how mine stack up.

Hey, you want a wild magic dice set? Imagine with me, a dice that looked like somebody did a 100-color resin challenge, but only mixed it halfway. A dice set where you can clearly see the reds and browns swirling gently and intertwined with the greens and blues, gold and silver ditting throughout the set. It's just.......... SO PRETTY!!! I use that set for my little Cat-kin, he's not exactly a wild mage, but a tiny bit worse. He's a Chance Cleric, a class type my DM helped me put together. All about chances and coincidence and gambling away their probabilities. If you like math, Chance Cleric is great for you! There's tables and percentiles for pretty much anything imagineable!

I did a set for a friend a while back with this same sort of mica powdering idea. The shell was made from a pure white but instead of a hollo glitter like inside I did a bright pink. I did have to sand it but it still came out amazing. I then painted the numbers a blood red, since the dice were based on a vampire character, and that was it. I think I user some red nail polish for the numbers that time around and it stays on the dice WAY better. Also the nail polish doesn't look that great on my nails so it was being put to better use. sanding

@@Rybonator If KZfaq allowed photos in the comments it would be easier to show you. But ya, gold and white would look amazing honestly. Maybe use a bit of copper paint for the numbers to stand out a bit better from the gold, would work great for sure.
