I wanted one of my spring soaps to be Mother's Day themed and I've been working on perfecting my straight layers. It turned out exactly like my inspiration and I couldn't be more thrilled!
I've also got a Patreon now! I'd be forever grateful if you'd support me: / thegildedbubble

I wish you would give more detail like how cool you let your lye get and how long you waited for each layer to setup before doing the next. Your recipe would be great too.

That's exactly how I do layers. It's initially a little more work, but SO worth it because the final process is SO much easier and less stressful. Great job!

I made some more straight layers soaps this week. I might do a more detailed tutorial on how I do it!

I loved this video! I felt like I was in the room soaping with you, lol. I'm definitely going to try this technique. I have a question about masterbatching. I've never done it before. How far in advance can you mix your lye-water? I use several butters so I typically soap at 95. I'm guessing it's okay to use lye-sol that's at room temp with oils that are at 95? Also, did you let your lye-water cool completely before you put the lid on? I've never masterbatched before so I want to make sure I know what I'm doing. TY!

I'm in the process of learning to make soap and candles. I wanted to do videos on my journey to being self-employed. I realized there aren't a lot of LGBTQ+ people of color getting into soap-making. I can show people what books, tools, etc. This week I will do an introduction video my chapter on being a soaper😍😍. I would be honored if you did watch it.

How many minutes interval did u gv for each layer to set ???
@thegildedbubble
@thegildedbubble 10 ай бұрын
Depends on the fragrance. This one takes longer to set because it does not accelerate at all. I wait until the soap no longer moves freely in the mold, but usually no more than 1 hour or it's too set to adhere the next layer.

Do you add your lye to the butters/oil before separate to the colors?

I used to, but I don't anymore. I get cleaner layers if I treat each layer as a mini batch.

Those turned out so great! I did separate mini batches for my split loaf soap I did for the 4th of July last year. They turned out perfectly even, but it does take a bit longer and requires some math :-) I also love watching Lisa (I dream in soap) as she has a way of making the most technical of challenges seem doable. I just started my channel a couple of weeks ago and I'd love if you'd give me a follow!

What math equations did you do ?

Really just some simple arithmetic, but I'm dramatic and hate math! I just divided my oils/lye amounts by 4. Then I made each layer as a separate batch.
