WHERE THE NAME COMES FROM
Information from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Aquila Mountain is a 2,840-metre (9,320-foot) mountain summit located in the Athabasca River valley of Jasper National Park, in the Canadian Rockies of Alberta, Canada. Aquila Mountain was so named on account of eagles in the area, aquila meaning "eagle" in Latin. The mountain's name was officially adopted on March 5, 1935 when approved by the Geographical Names Board of Canada.

Gorgeous! Given the final design, I might have considered a different method for the case. Imagine: horizontal boards full-sized, with roundovers. Attach the verticals to the middle board with alternating tenons, leaving enough of the horizontal board for strength. To attach top and bottom, dovetail-pin-shaped tenons. With continuous grain for both horizontal and vertical boards, and mock dovetails top and bottom, you'd have everyone mystified.

That is a really cool idea, I'll have to play around with it in sketchup and see if I can come up with a design for a future project!

I'm already planning out some interior design based around this color combo for my future home because I love it so much too!

Looking great Morgan. The choice of paint and colour looks great. I like how you can see the grain through the paint and also I think routing those grooves in plywood panel is an excellent idea to make it appear they are individual boards. Graeme.

Thanks, it was definitely a very exciting moment when I realized the wood grain would show through the paint!

Looks great Morgan. I wasn’t sure what a Jasper green color would look like against that Cherry but when you held that sample up, I was like “wow, that actually looks great”. Time to build a portable spray booth 👍. Is your canoe Jasper green now? 😜

I think i'm going to put some kind of spray booth together to contain the mess a bit next time but I should've painted that lime green canoe while I had the sprayer out!

They make linseed oil paint in a lot of colors. All natural and no peeling

I really wanted to try linseed oil paint but the pre-made stuff from Lee Valley is insanely priced and I couldn't find a good enough way to make my own

Seeing all of that overspray in the shop made me gringe thinking all of your shop would have tiny spots or even a thin layer of green paint since nothing seemed to be draped. Did that happen at all ? I really like the dark green and how you can see the wood grain !

I had my air filter running on high the whole time and that did a good job picking up most of it, but there definitely was a thin layer of green dust over everything! The next time I do this, I'll be setting up some kind of spray booth so I don't have as much to clean!

Hi Morgan, great job! I've been following this series and enjoying it. this episode had a better talk-to-work ratio compared to the previous one. The mask you're wearing is not suitable for painting. it's a dust filter, not effective for vapors. If you can smell it- by definition- it's in your nose. stay safe and keep up with the good work.

I was wonder if I would get a comment about this, so I did my research! The important thing to understand is both the type of paint I'm using and the application method. For the paint, I'm using an 0 VOC water based enamel and then using an HVLP sprayer for the application. The paint itself doesn't have any toxic vapors or fumes and spraying with HVLP doesn't introduce anything toxic in to the process. When spraying with HVLP, your vaporizing the paint into very fine particulates that may or may not attach to the wood. So all I need is to do is prevent myself from breathing in those paint particles which these 3M P100 filter are rated for. If you look at my recent video where I painted a handplane with my airbrush, I use oil based Rustoleum paint. While spraying that paint, I swapped out the filters on my mask for ones that would block the harmful vapors that come from that paint.
