Hearing Khan speak, I'm picking up on his Norwegian accent. All these years, I've never realized this guy had an accent. It's interesting how when he sings and speaks it sounds totally different.

I know I suck at english while speaking, but I can sing really close to english in some musics. Its really a practice.

That man is god, I swear it. And together, Kamelot is the band that I've always wanted to hear and now enjoy to the fullest. They're exactly what I've always looked for in a metal band.

You know, sometimes I can't help but feel sad that he's left the music business and we likely won't hear anything new. But then I try to imagine how unhappy he must have felt by the end of it, and I remind myself that it's much better for a performer to know when to step down from the stage, be it to put health first or simply to leave when they're on top (just as he still was, at least imho). Important thing is, he's left a HUGE legacy which won't be forgotten for a very, very long time. My life, for one, is forever changed for having Kameot with Roy Khan in it. Love him, now and always.
@guadalupesanchez96137 жыл бұрын
I feel something like that. But the truth is that I just discovered Kamelot 4 months ago, by the video of My Confession, with Tommy Karevik. Then I discovered there had been another singer (khan) and before him, Mark Vanderbilt. I only can watch the old videos and the ones from the concerts they gave with Khan. Knowing that those times have gone, Kamelot still is a good band, but not the same; and time just can not be rewinded. I whish it could, just to having the oportunity to feel his music on real time. Don't know if this understand itself, but that is what I feel
@lunar_light6 жыл бұрын
I understand completely - it so happens that I discovered them around the same time as you, apparently (late april for me). I was instantly blown away by Khan's voice, and them immediately brought back down when I found out he no longer sings. Maybe that's why it's hard for me to enjoy their music with the joy I would normally feel, it's always tinged with sadness cause I know I'll never hear him live with my own ears. I don't listen to today's Kamelot, don't care for Karevik at all, even though I admit objectively he's a good singer. But the band as it was with Khan no longer exists imho. The only thing left to do is appreciate what we have, the seven brilliant albums and the impossibly amazing DVD :)

Tommy was a great replacement for Roy though
@jeffreystevens80427 жыл бұрын
Nicky Anderson TheTiesThatBindUs agreed, but the style of the music changed, it's more alt rock edgy than it was symphonic metal. i prefer the latter, not to say tommy is bad by any means

@neon17.08 Tommy is a fantastic singer but the music was never the same. It was on the decline even before Khan left, to be fair.

James LaBrie is what drags Dream Theater down. They have the best group of musicians that could possibly be assembled, but the two things they lack are a lead singer the caliber of Roy Khan & the deep, beautiful, & thought provoking songwriting that Khan brings. You put Roy Khan in Dream Theater, & that could be one of the best bands ever put together. That being said, Khan puts Kamelot far ahead of Dream Theater.

@luciamrmota56108 жыл бұрын
Winston Norrris well... At least he said I'm sorry... It must have been a very complicated situation :S The guy was suffering of panic attacks and believe me I have those things and to be with my own family and friends is difficult now imagine it in front of thousands of yelling people. By the other hand, Khan left them in the beginning of a world tour, they had a couple of reasons to be mad at him. A shame cause they really looked like good friends.

I used to feel that way about Dream Theater until I started actually listening to their songs; especially their 90's material. Check out Metropolis Part 2. It's one of the best concept albums I've ever heard, and is emotionally pretty heavy ;)

@MarinVillalpando15 I often hear this complaint, don't give up LOL (whichever kind of music if good stands the test of times I believe)! Probably it goes down to specific sensitivity & what's perceived to be the most popular taste to sell commercial music too in the end...bye ;-)
