In this week’s episode we take over the Masuma Dam Camping Site in Hwange National Park - making it our home for 3 nights. What a unique way to experience one of Zimbabwe’s great parks!
Masuma Dam Camping Site is situated a short drive from the Sinamatella Lodges in Hwange National Park. Located on a high point it offers a spectacular view of the wildlife and the plains. The campsite is fenced and manned with a ranger which means visitors are allowed to camp here overnight. This is truly an amazing experience since most wildlife only came to the waterhole after dark.
We were lucky enough to have the campsite to ourselves for all 3 nights and we really took advance of it. (Some day visitors even apologized when they walked into the thatched hide - thinking they accidentally walked into our room). We even setup a little office in the hide - best office views ever!
The large thatched hide is great for watching wildlife as they roam around on their way to the nearby waterhole. It is also a great spot to escape the heat especially when visiting in th height of summer as we did.
