MAKING TSUKA FOR A WAKIZASHI - PART2

This is the final part of my project, after reshape the wooden handle, apply samegawa, here is what I do next.
I used washi paper to make hishigami , and the black glue stick is kusune, which was help keep the ito stick on to the handle. This tsuka had Hinerimaki style wrapping, with bamboo leaves Menuki.
Lacquered after wrapping.

Its called Kusune, made by bee wax, oil and matsuyani _ pine rosin, boiled and paste to a stick, it help tighten and keep the string on the right place. You can easily search the formular on Internet

I really like your set up. Can you help me with two things: what are those pliers called that you use to hold the ito and where can I get them. And second how do you darken your same. Is it tea and if so do I take any old tea bags and mix with hot or cold water. Can you tell me how you make that mixture. Thanks

The clamp i made follow the design of Han Koga, you can find this clamp on fb Koga bijutsu. And about the process of weathering the samegawa, I used leather dye color, mix some colors to bring out the amber look.

I got a question, im trying to make my own katana and i wanna do most of the work, including wrapping the tsuka. I just cant find any good clamps to hold the ito. i saw one at 2:27 in your video, just what i am looking for, do you know what they are called?
