Good test. I've got the 36v blower, and the 18v blower + the mini 18v blower tested here. The 36v version blows them both out of the water, but both the others are good tools. What I like about the smallest version is it's portability. I cart it around permanently in the back of my work ute, it takes up virtually no room and really does everything I ask of it. It's slower of course but with the extension fitted, it's amazing what the little bugger can shift. If I need the extra power for the day I pick one of the other two but they take up a lot of room. I've got one of the new 36v blower/vacs coming for picking up stuff out of the garden, my old petrol Stihl blower vac is still running well, but I'm getting over the ear muffs required and the frequent airfilter washing out in the dusty conditions it gets used in. The 36v and the large 18v version I picked up with the Makita promotions from other tools, so both were effectively free. Otherwise I'd have spent waaay too much on garden blower tools..😂

I'm a big fan of my Makita 18x2 blower. For extended run time, I use 2 8.0ah Metabo HPT batteries with offset adapters. It's a bit heavy but surprisingly well balanced and lasts a long time even at full beans. I might have to pick this up to compare the two...

I have the 18v one and that is a great tool as well. Definitely needs more than one battery to do its job but it is a joy to use. The 40v looks like a winner. The extra power Is obvious.

Love the content ! And I must admit I always use your reviews for my purchases . I am on the makita 40v platform and very happy ! Just wondering if you can do a comparison of run time between the 8 ah 5 ah and the high output 4 ah for the blower . Cause it does love to chew through the batteries . I have the 4 and 5 ah and does go through them .

I ordered this blower and the line trimmer kit last week, hasn't arrived yet but this review looks to have justified my choice, will be nice to start moving away from 2 stroke equipment.

Just as you released the video, Makita released the tiny AS001GZ blower, like that small Ryobi blower. Might release the 18v as well, but it's a bit bulky.

ive noticed over the last few years the Formula 1 teams use these blowers (modified a bit) to jamb in the brake ducts when the cars come into the garages

I have found that using it for a long time, the weight wasn't an issue but the push back or recoil of the air was difficult on my forearms because the tool is lighter and I have constantly push it down to to hold in place.

I fix jet engines for a living. My best guess is that foam is indeed a sort of sound deadening. Certain frequencies might resonate the case and amplify the sound. You could try pulling it out if it's not glued and see how much louder it gets.

You are 100% correct, It will absorb the higher frequencies.

Got the mini blower which is one of the handiest tools ever, along with a multi tool and painters tool. This fella is bloody beast. Definitely not on my list of things to buy but impressive nonetheless.

A good cordless vacuum, a good shop blower(mini), multi tool, and a 5in1 are as important to me as a drill/driver/impact/saw. Tape measure, utility knife, an all in one mini kit like a Wera kit and a pair of Vampliers Brute and i'm good. All almost equally important to each, and 90% of my work can be done.

I have the 36 volt one, and it works great! It probably has the same or close to the same power as the 40 volt one. It doesn’t matter what you are trying to blow, that thing will do it, I’ve stopped cleaning my gutters by hand and just get up on the roof and blow them out. Probably my only complaint is that the main clamshell is ABS and not the PA6 GF30 we are used to seeing, so you have to be a bit more gentle with it. Oh and the 36 volt one has a variable speed trigger and a speed selection dial

i love my 36v blower. clean gutters, driveways, dust cars, roof decks for new shingles, just about anything you need high speed wind for. its great! never ran out of battery on a single task.

It have the DUB182Z , DUB184Z , and the 36v. Do I now need a 40v version. Ummm yes!! Also the foam will be for sound. Same thing we do with our return air on ducted systems , to help keep them a bit quieter.

I have the 2x18v version and it is fantastic. But the 40v having a power on button is super annoying to me. I’m glad the time out takes a while. But I’d be happier without it

Another great Intro, as well as Video! Cheers ! Your beach demonstration was great, especially with the moving of those blocks of timber. I like the 18 volt model. It is obvious the 40 Volt is more powerful, but the run times aren’t impressive. Neither are the looks or maybe build quality, since you showed and mentioned the foam piece in the inlet? It just looks like three different ‘engineers’ were designing it at same time? Makita does have the edge over the Milwaukee in regards to weight. Knowing Makita it should not have a negative impact on the longevity. I think it is still hard to beat the M18 Fuel blower, especially when you can run it on their 8,9, and 12.0 Ah batteries. The Milwaukee you speak of puts out 12.7m3/m whereas this one puts out 16m3/m

@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL Hello I mentioned the Milwaukee as it is the one I own, and you have some ‘red’ tools in your toolbox. I certainly wouldn’t imply the Milwaukee was more powerful. In fact, I think the 18 volt Makita blower edges out the M18 model. Obviously the 40 Volt is putting out a lot more air, and at a faster speed. It’ll be interesting to see what Makita does with the 40 volt line and batteries, going forward. Cheers!

Recommend getting the Xiaomi digital scale its bluetooth so you can show the weight and stuff on screen all fancy + tools will fit on it

Hi, I found a spreadsheet to calculate Air Volume & Air Velocity according to : - End nozzle diameter (? m) - RPM (20 000) - Blowing Force (12 N) - Air Stream Temperature (? °C) You can give us this information and see if Makita respects ANSI B175.2. Thanks.

Depends on what you need it for. For a landscaper a 2 stroke is the obvious winner. I'm a carpenter and this is perfect for cleaning up the jobsite

Thanks Matt. People seem to think I work for Makita and have an endless supply of tools at my disposal. And why didn't I use a petrol one and the Dewalt... everyone has their own idea of what the "obvious" choice is. And fair? It baffles me how people think tool comparisons are not fair unless the tools are the same??? I'm showing you the difference people!!!

You don’t want to use low AH batteries on these type of continuous duty tools. The discharge rate with a 2 Amp hour battery is close to 10c…….way to high. You will overheat the batteries and vastly decrease their lifespan. High battery temps are bad. And always let batteries cool before you charge them, charging them adds more heat. I have the 36v version and its great for blowing job site or tools before they get put in van. To blow leaves without stopping for 6 hours i needed 3 double chargers and 4 sets(8 total) of batteries. That would allow a set to cool for fifteen minutes before i charged them. The blower Isn’t as strong as a backpack gas blower but almost. It blows leaves out flower beds well and then into a pile. Then rake pile onto tarp for removal, was best technique.

Ahhh!!! Look out! You're gonna blow your saw away! Oh, no! The deck furniture is across the property now... Ok...ok... I'm glad they put the trigger lock on this model. The x2 has not. I found the 18v on clearance for $75. (!!!) And the mini goes everywhere with me. I love it? And, finally... Everyone wants to know how many of these will it take to lift a guy off the ground? Come on, you know you wanna try it.

I don't understand Makita: A big blower with lot of power. And battery gets very hot. Why don't they use 0.1 percent of blow power for cooling down battery? Would not be difficult to lead some air through the battery... but would help to extend battery life a lot!

Es porque usa una batería demasiado pequeña, no recomendable para esta herramienta, y además al máximo de forma continua, con una batería más grande (5 u 8 ah) y en condiciones normales de trabajo, donde no se tiene el gatillo apretado siempre al máximo, no se calentaría tanto.

You need to swot up on your maths mate. Full price of 18v 120GBP 40v 274GBP on Amazon. Certainly not 10x the price. More like 2 and a bit.

DeWalt's 60v does more CFM. You could say Makita "blew it", except not enough.
