Purchased a Makita MAC2400 air compressor on amazon and mounted it to a dolly with a hose reel setup. On a side note, I laughed when I first viewed this video because I sounded like Ray Romano for some reason.

I have a reel that has been sitting for a couple years since I couldn't decided where to put it. I need the compressor to live under a shelf next my shopvac, so I think I'm going to build a sort of custom furniture dolly with the reel mounted on it next to the Makita. This gave me some great inspiration and possible closure to my reel dilemma. :) I bought my MAC2400 In Jan 2005 and it has been a solid little guy. Thanks for sharing and great build!

Slick setup. I opted for the Mac5200 over this model for to have the build in wheels/dolly and a little more power out of the unit as well. But this is the way to go for this unit. Great job.

10 years later and theyre still selling these compressors. And im envious of that dolly 😂 im going to show this to a buddy and see if he can make something for me

Right, same exact model and everything. That's a rarity these days. Usually, manufacturers release new junk compressors every 3-4 years, which makes replacement parts hard to find. They expect you to just throw it away and buy a new one every few years.

I’m sure the folks at Makita have watched this video regarding your very cool setup are looking to copy what you did.

Thanks so much! I already have the MAC2400 and was planning to build a simple cart today. I saw this when I googled the MAC2400. Thanks again. Bill

thanks for the video. I'm getting great review on this compressor. Nice set up you made for transporting of the compressor. You should make a video on how you made the carrier for it. Thanks once again.....Rick

awesome setup man...i recently purchased the makita mac2500 compressor with the 5glln tank and the handle already built in, and i think i might go the same route as you with the hose reel attached to the handle... Genius!

Nice job, excellent, very clean. I have the same compressor and will use your design. Thanks..

Drooling, getting mine in a couple weeks, and have an extra hand truck (pneumatic tires too!) I think I will build up like yours. These Makita compressors are great! Will look nice along with my LXT cordless tools :) Was going to go cheap, but I hate buying a tool twice, so will go for quality. After getting my hands on one at local power tool store, it outshined ALL the rest, with attitude to spare.

Mine was just delivered today. Setup was a cinch. I went downstairs to let my neighbor know I was going to break it in for 20 minutes & then when I went back down to see if the compressor bothered him at all and he says what ? I didn't even think that you turned the thing on yet, lol ! This Makita MAC2400 compressor is the quietest & best one I've owned so far and this is the 3rd one I've owned in the last 30 years. It's a keeper ! :-)

Great. When you do a post, can you also describe the wood frame attached to the back of the dolly...i.e., how many pieces, size, how they are attached, what purpose they serve? Thanks.

Looks like a really nice setup. Thinking about getting one of these myself. I really like the cart+hose reel. Did you get those off amazon as well? Do you have any air tools like an impact wrench?

I will post a video slideshow of dimensions and materials when I get back to town. Starnet36 you are correct on everything but I don't remember if it was 3/4 plywood, and it was all screwed and glued.

Hi, I really like your set up! super clean and functional!! I just purchased my own mac2400 and was looking to put something similar together, can you tell me what brand of dolly you used? Thanks

I got the dolly from lowes, but it is just a standard dolly.

I want to make a base like yours. Questions about the wood base you made: Is the base made out of 3/4" plywood? Are the 2 parallel long pieces 2x4's? The corners 1x1's? Did you glue any of the pieces? Nice job.

Is that hose 3/8 rubber or half inch? Any issues running the impact with it? I just setup my new mac2400 and I love it but the 1/4 hose is a little too constricting (it came as a combo).
@RonSwanson19 жыл бұрын
themaxx002000 Thanks, I'll give that a shot! Nice setup, I can't wait to make something like it. I will probably include a cord wrap for an extension cord since I will also be mobile with mine.

You should remove the air from the tank after a long period of time not in use to prolong the life of the compressor. I bought mine in May 2007 use a couple of time i just changed the oil I haven't an issue it work very well after 15 years.
@themaxx0020009 жыл бұрын
My mistake all. It is a 3/8 hose. It is a lowes hose/reel combo purchase.

domnic0 The brace spans the entire axle to distribute the weight. The axle is also completely welded to the frame, not just spot welded. That is why I chose to design it that way. There has been no damage what so ever to it.
