Great Whites are evolved Mako Sharks both the Mako Shark and Great White originate from a older variant of the Mako shark millions of years ago. It would make sense they would have similarities difference is what they preyed upon. The White Shark hunts large fish and Seals thus requires the muscles and mass to take on such prey. Interestingly White Shark pups do actively compete with Mako Sharks due to similar teeth designs until they get older and require nutrient rich seals. T

JETZcorp It wouldn't make sense such small predator to travel alone and especially when it's built perfectly to hunt in packs. It's not proven but it's most likely that they traveled and hunted in packs.
@JETZcorp7 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of small predators which don't hunt in packs. Cats, birds of prey, wolverines, monitor lizards, etc. There were plenty of dinosaurs the size of a goat or less, plus all the small mammals which were emerging. If feral house cats can collapse whole food chains as solitary hunters, solitary velociraptors ought to do fine. But of course, pack hunting is bad-ass to visualize, and it is still very plausible.

Mako's wouldn't likely attack you. They feed on active fast moving prey like Tuna and other fast fish. The teeth they have is designed to grab not saw or tear. Indeed they would likely avoid you unless your the idiot trying to fish them, and in that case they may try to defend themselves. Great Whites are also the same as your not very appealing for a food item not enough fat and humans might be seen as dangerous. Tiger sharks on the other hand would likely love to take a bite and bullsharks, white tips and blue sharks are assholes and will likely attack you. Prey its the blue shark that does cause that's the one you can probably fight off. The other ones are too powerful and white tips hunt in packs.

A fast, intelligent and beautiful fish. While the great white shark has most of the limelight, the short fin mako shark is certainly a brilliant creature in its own right. On the subject of shark movies , I'm surprised that the mako hasn't featured in more of them apart from deep blue sea (1999). In a "killer shark movie" it would most definitely cause some scares probably equally as scary as the great sharks from the jaws movies (the 1st one and maybe the 2nd).

In that situation with a hungry shark do you collect yourself to fight back or swim away?

1:36 you can see through the gills! Sorry but that’s cool to me even though I already knew about the science about gills

Great footage, is any of it in real time or is it all sped up/slowed down? The sped up parts are a bit distracting, would love to see this in real time to gauge the Mako's speed. Thanks for posting the trolling speed, that helps!

Thanks, Wow, that makes it even more awesome, thanks for the heads up. Awesome stuff you guys are doing there, we are only starting to learn about these animals capabilities and video like this is very helpful! Love to see a wahoo, swordfish or thresher do this!

It remindes me of an old shark shooting arcade game. It's exactly how the sharks looked and moved on screen.
