Well they all either used him in some way, or took him for a fool or abused his naiveté and him being too nice. The build up has been there for a while that he was getting angrier and angrier at being disrespected and now part 2 of season 2 is basically all of the payoff from it. It's unfortunate the anime cut some of the earlier instances we get to see Makoto's vicious side in the WN. Like back when he had Tomoe and Mio deal with Mils Ace (the kidnapper guy in the first town before Tomoe and Mio nuked it), Makoto had them go because he didn't think he could resist straight up murdering Mils and his gang.

Just saying, but the part about Devil is just a translation difference. As the word "Majin" has different meaning depending on the Kanji used, which makes Sorcerer more accurate than Devil. Other accurate translation would be "Genie" or "Superhuman".

Even though majin can be translated as sorcerer what is important is meaning behind the word not the word itself. When people describe Makoto as majin they don't mean just magic user because that describes like half of the world's population. The meaning they are going for is closer to supernatural being or something similar. Man at the star lake Tomoe was questioning said that the sorcerer was sent to punish hyumans. He said "So when we stray from the right path, who admonishes and punishes us? That is his responsibility". This is what makes me think "Devil" is more fitting. In western culture the devil is the one who punishes sinners which is perfectly in line with quote I gave you. Also the devil is someone who opposes the god so in this case it also is very fitting. There is more things that makes me think it fits but they are skipped content and spoilers so I'm not writing them here. Moreover after doing more research I found many sources translating majin as devil or evil spirit. Also from what I learned majin has two spellings. Both spellings first kanji is translated to demon/devil/supernatual/"evil spirit". If you are curious second kanji in one version means person and in other god/deity. I checked over 10 sources and among them there wasn't even a single one that would say something different. I mean there was some variation but devil/demon was probably the most common. After learning this much I would say that sorcerer is 'I guess' type of translation. Unless we are talking about dnd kind of sorcerer. That would be more fitting than common definition of sorcerer as just someone who uses magic because in dnd sorcerer is someone who was born from some kind of mistical being.

I think he just got a little confused with who she is. With their names both starting with H(Hibiki and Hasegawa) I see it happening since Hasegawa was only talked about a little bit in season one.

The Anime doesn't say sh.t about Makoto having any feelings appearently feeling bad is romantic feeling and ofcourse he feels bad he rejected her and made her cry. I've seen multiple reactors and non have made this mistake like he did and it isn't the only time Freshest made mistakes, many times he'll not play attention and start to act like a dog in heat whenever he sees sexy female characters yet can't pay a little attention I've said that to him before yet he keeps doing this and missing things and that's annoying.

- _Demon_ is "Ma-zoku (魔族)", in this series. - _Devil/Evil Spirit/Genie_ is "Ma-jin (魔神)" - _Sorcerer/Genie/Magical SuperHuman_ is "Ma-jin (魔人)", and it's this Kanji they use for him in the LN & Manga.

I think you are confusing it with Ma-jin (魔神). 魔人 should basically be _Magic + Person_ , basically a Human with Magical Powers.

Because no one gives translators episodes several weeks ahead, it's usually hours, so the safe term "sorcerer" which doesn't clash with "demon" the translator picked before turned out to be wrong. In such cases usually translation keeps old wrong thing instead of coming up with something more fitting (which may be fixed after season ends), because changing stuff would just sow confusion who did what etc etc. After all no one's rewatching all aired episodes each week.

​@@thePanda7914 I don't think he can beat Tomoe or Mio. Remember that both of them are on another level compared to Shiki. Essentially it goes: 1. Makoto 2. Tomoe and Mio (minor difference in power) 3. Shiki

But Shiki has that staff... which can turn into a dragonslayer greatsword. And Makoto had the detection kai up when he said that Shiki is stronger than Lancer... He was not speaking about the past, but about what he was perceiving in that precise moment.

@@ObatongoSensei I don't know if he can measure combat strength with his kai ... and IF he can, he's probably comparing it with himself ... which would make everyone there seem like ants

Ok serious! This is just my opinion but I agree with you. His Slime armor need a bit of improvement and refinement. Which means he still has room to grow.
