Yes my cheap SdR dongle or fun cube in 3d ,had on my 42 inch will do...lol can't go portable with that lot...but just take the laptop..or phone..!

I have the original with just one speaker and Aluminum case, and the unit seems to be in this class. At least with yours you don’t have to turn off the display just to hear locals while using a telescopic whip. I think I keep saving my money for a DSP2, because the small improvements on this model are not worth upgrading my current Malahit machine. 73! Have a great day!

I bought a quantity of those cheap Chinese made encoders (8:02) for devices I build and I too notice they they are quite flaky - they do all kinds of unpredictable things like random skipping and false triggers. For example, I have a DSP audio device that I built that uses one for rotary volume control and push-button mute; strangely whenever my cat passes buy the device the static charge of his fur activates the push-button mute or increments the volume control without ever touching the encoder. These encoders are cheap and very compact, but I wish I could find an inexpensive alternative that wasn't so flaky.

DSP3? Do you have a link on info? I did search, but didn't find anything on a new DSP.

Looks really promising, sounds quite good. But cereal box type enclosure, exposed and easily damaged speakers coupled with unresponsive tuning encoder means it is a half arsed product. Will wait for something actually functional and well built to come to market, which is entirely doable (look at Fiio audio products for example).

The first issue could be solved by replacing the sh.tty encoder with a better detentless one. I did it on my older malahite and it worked well after. PEC11R-4015F-S0024 is good enough.

This would be cool if they added a way to integrate decoding digital modes portably without the need of extra hardware

This radio you have chosen was a poor and outdated choice among the many DSP1 Chinese clones. The much newer and excellent DSP1 V5 is a great radio using the latest DSP1 firmware 1.10d. Then there is the very new DSP2, which is a licensed (by the Russian Malahiteam) and has even more functionality and later firmware,. Again, the radio you chose to review was a very poor choice.
