Malaska Golf

Күн бұрын

A couple weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin Pillar, Kevin Plawecki and Ryon Healy at Superstition Mountain for an afternoon lesson and Rapsodo Mobile Launch Monitor demo. It was a lot of fun working with these guys and applying their baseball skills to the game of golf. When you're working with athletes like these, their hands are so good all you have to do is give them the right task and let them do the rest.
Shaping the ball and how you hit a draw, fade or hit it straight is all about understanding how the club face and the ball work. For me, and when working with Major League Baseball players, the club face is the bat. How you angle that bat determines what field you'll hit the ball to.
I think we revealed a lot of those "a-ha moments," and I hope you enjoy watching these lessons as much as I enjoyed giving them.
If you want to pick up a Rapsodo MLM to get a better understanding of your distances, club speed and launch angles, you can save $50 when you use the promo code summer at checkout on our site (limited time only - www.malaskagol.... Thanks for being part of the Malaska Golf community!

The best part was when Mike told them the face was the bat and the guy he called to hit first looked at his buddy like “ok” whatever. Then immediately realized that Mike proved the analogy for these baseball players to a tee!!

Mike, by far one of the best in the business. I sware the instructors now a days deliberately give bad information knowing most people will follow it, they become so screwed up, and out of sink they than have to go pay for lessons most of the golf business is just a money maker with no end in site. Happy to have found one guy still out here who is honest!

Awesome concept. So tired of golf instruction muddying the waters with how to play this game. So many athletes get so frustrated being told to hold the angle and don’t use hands when that is our greatest asset. Once you understand how you are supposed to swing you can groove it and start playing golf and stop playing golf swing all the time.

Excellent video, as usual! Finally made sense out of AJ Bonar’s “Da Bat”; had no clue that the shaft is an extension of the left arm and does not represent the bat (still messes with my mind...) Thanks for all of your hard work and generosity in sharing these great videos!

Never heard it talked about in conjunction with baseball. Control the face by hitting it to left field, center field or right field. That clicked for me & look forward to practicing it & incorporating on the course

I have watched hundreds of videos on youtube. I MEAN HUNDREDS. Many hours of my winters up here in Minnesota have been trying to find the right instructor to relate things and change my perspective. You and Tom Saguto are the kings. Hands down, no one else on youtube teaches the game better than you guys. It's not about one thing, it's about simplicity and discovery. That's how it should be from day one. If I had someone give me this perspective in the beginning, no doubt I would be winning tournaments up the ying-yang. I'm 35 and am finally playing par and better golf. Truly amazing stuff here man. I'll be sharing this wisdom and this channel with anyone that takes the game with an open mind.

I understand hitting the inside of the ball considering we stand to the side of the ball. I'd just like more explanation of the concept as well as details on how you use your hands/body to control the club face.

Good tip related - cut out 4-6 straight inches of a coat hanger and use electrical or duct tape and attach it to the clubface, along one of the upper grooves. I’ll post a video of it.

I feel as if this is onto something way more than anything else. Just my theory. But I learned to hit a draw with an open club face at address. I’m talking 45 degrees. I don’t think ball flight laws are correct. Because the rate of closure I swear by it produced the hook. Didn’t matter where i swung. I’d swing out to in into out but if I snapped that face down it had draw spin. Vice versa I’d set up with my face closed 45 at address. There was absolutely no way that the face was “open to my path” but if I didn’t close the face down it was fading or slicing. It sure wasn’t opening over 45 degrees to where I was swinging but at the time of impact it was still in the act of opening. I think the ball flight laws need to take into account the closure rates. They say they’ve studied it but there is absolutely no way that it doesn’t take any affect on the ball. That’s 80 percent of the affect

Why is the shaft an extension of the left arm, not the right, or both?
@UniversalGC

Because the left arm lines up with the shaft at impact, assuming you are right-handed.

I have been following and learning from Mike for about a year, I pretty much practice and implement whatever he teaches, however, ball shaping is not one of them as I just don't believe this is something can be executed well under pressure, like Jack and Phil said golf is already completed enough, and most of the pros just adjust stance and club face to shape ball
