Mike, the idea of the spring is, I think, that it goes over centre when you have nearly depressed the pedal so you are only holding it down against the clutch's finger springs. Once you start to lift the pedal the spring kicks back in to help with the return & hold the release bearing off the fingers. If you look you will see that you actually let go of the pedal in the depressed position & it did not return but stayed in position. The old simple spring as you described would just ramp up the resistance as you press the pedal.

Yes - and if you are low on fluid and you press the pedal - it stays down and you are franticly trying to lift it back up with your foot Pain to bleed too - I prefer the old style

Watching this tutorial my thoughts were, "why did'nt Land Rover put a grease nipple on the pivot shaft", then I took out my pedal box to renew the master cylinder and found that the shaft has a 1/4" UNF thread tapped in it! Screw in a 1/4UNF nipple and I can now pump grease in it, and it works very well, although mine has been used for 17 years and the shaft still had oil on it! Chris B.

Have that set up on my Wolf, squeals like a stuck pig on the downstroke, although the pedal is good and light. Great film again. Thanks Mike. 👍🏻😊

The excellent dismantling tool again, I used mine to clean the perches in the henhouse at half the time of using a trowel. Tool of many uses !

I fitted one of those replacement clutch pedal springs. It makes the makes the clutch pedal lighter. I will also be fitting their master cylinder soon, which will make the clutch even lighter
@BritannicaRestorations
@BritannicaRestorations 3 жыл бұрын
The principle reason the clutch is heavy is because of the friction on the clutch fork pivot which is why I made the clutch bushes

Be careful bud. I fitted the powerspring and it made the clutch much lighter. And I installed the master cylinder they do too and it made the clutch too light and it really messed it all up. Just fit the spring is best.

A strong spring makes the pedal lighter. Look at the LOF power spring.

Not sure how it works Mike but it does make the pedal lighter, i didnt have one on but as part of replacing the clutch i fitted one of these....wow a good lot lighter than without.

As I mentioned it is a lighter return spring - I should have measured the force needed to push this down before fitting - this is why I have the old pressed steel pedals in my trucks with a regular return spring

Spring makes it lighter whem pressing the clutch . Goes over center for last few mm so dose both help with retun and pressin clutch . Or at least lof ones do as mine never had one from factory so fitted one after a few years. And as said also added a lof master cyilinder as well . Like a car now . Maybe 130 have a heaver clutch than others ??? Not sure

hi Mike , 300tdi, clutch went, lost all it's fluid, so I completely revamped my clutch housing,new master cyl & set,, also new slave cyl , the problem I've got is the pushrod ( slave cyl ) is lying short of the hole, where it should be centralised and slightly protruding , any ideas your an inspiration, thanks for your videos
