Yes, you guys are right, Singapore was a part of Malaya when Malaya gained independence from the British in 1957. In September 1963, when the Federation of Malaysia was being formed, Sabah got confrontation from Indonesia and Philippines. Even Brunei decided to back off from joining Malaysia after getting confrontation from Indonesia. Malaysia and Singapore had unresolved political issues over national policy making, and Singapore was given undisputed freedom of independence from Malaysia in 1965.

Jalan Tun Perak - FYI Tun Perak is a name of a person. Bendahara Paduka Raja Tun Perak was the fifth and most famous bendahara, a Malay rank similar to a prime minister, of the Sultanate of Malacca. He served under four sultans from 1456 to 1498. Thanks

Yes, "Perak" means Silver in Malay but "Tun Perak" was a historical figure during the Melakan Sultanate period. The street was named after him.

The street is not named after Malaysia 1st PM, it is named after post merdeka Supreme Ruler (almost equivalent to King) which is Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Malaysia 1st PM was Tunku Abdul Rahman not Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Their name are the same but with diferrent title.

@gundambattleassault there are other ways to instill patriotism. No need flags. Example you can fly flags at home but at night do smuggling at the border area, or at the airport allowed illegal immigrants to enter the country for commission, this is patriotism?

1:41 Tuanku Abdul Rahman (portrait printed on Malaysian currency note) is the first Agong while Tunku Abdul Rahman is the first prime minister. always the mixed up. Please note the spelling and check the surname 6:28 Jalan Tun Perak translated Tun Perak Road. Malaysian do not tranlate a person name i.e. Tun Perak is name of historical figure, even though perak is silver.

Ah, sorry about that. Thanks for the clarification. I noticed the difference in spelling with Tuanku and Tunku when I was researching but didn't think much of it.

Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman is named after the first King (YD Agong) NOT the first Prime Minister. The first PM is TUNKU Abdul Rahman (Note the different spelling).

OK Theres 2 separate persons here that everybody constanty makes mistake about including locals. the first prime ministers name is TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PUTRA AL HAJ. He was the one that had given us the indeendence from british rule. However, Malaysia is a country that rotates its sultans to become the AGONG which is like the king of kings. so the confusion is that the first AGONGs name is also abdul rahman. so to differentiate them both he was given the title of TUANKU. so TUANKU ABDUL RAHMAN was the first agong and its his image that is found on the MALAYSIAN RINGGIT CURRENCY. Tunku Abdul Rahman became the first prime minister. it was tunku that raised his hand and decared the words merdeka for 7 times at the stadium merdeka. not at the merdeka square. everyone makes this mistake as well. the sigificance is thatin the merdeka square is where you can find that gigantic tall malaysian flag ole and that iconic building the SULTAN ABDUL SAMAD BUILDING is where they have the independence day procession parade.

Jalan Tun Perak is not Silver Road. Tun Perak was a senior minister to the Sultan according to Malay history. The road is named after him. You can google Tun Perak for more info
