Maldives Election Results | Landslide Win For Pro-China Leader's Party In Parliamentary Vote

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu's party won control of parliament in a Sunday election landslide, results showed, with voters backing his tilt towards China and away from regional powerhouse and traditional benefactor India.
Muizzu's People's National Congress (PNC) had secured more than two thirds in the 93-member parliament, according to provisional results from the Elections Commission of Maldives.
The PNC had secured 66 out of 86 declared, already more than enough for a super-majority. The formal ratification of the results is expected to take a week and the new assembly is to be in office from early May.

It’s proved indian diplomacy for neighbours is wrong. India should change her mindsets about neighbouring countries. BJP and indian authoritarian regimes failed everywhere and their diplomatic weaknesses is becoming bold. Canada, USA, Maldives, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Sri Lanka etc. countries hate Indian diplomacy.

People who are in the comment section saying we should stop supporting Maldives..... Let me tell you geo politics is very complicated, and we are getting played by the Chinese and they are spoiling our relationship with every single neighbor of ours. These tiny nations look irrelevant but they are very important for our national security and overall growth. Border tension and unstable neighborhoods will hinder our progress and that's what the Chinese want.

However much India might blame Muizzu, loosing Maldives diplomatically is a significant failure of current Indian foreign policy initiatives. We just lost a long standing ally.

India liberated BENGLADESH from PAKISTAN. But, after getting freedom from PAKISTAN, those people started to hate INDIA. INDIA helped TURKY during the earthquake. But they support PAKISTAN in KASHMIR issue. Some people are like that. Maldives people are not different.

Indians must respect the sovereignty of Maldives by not interfering with their affairs. It is up to the Maldivians to align with any country. If the Hindutva sect wanna expand their influence, then go to Nepal. Nepal is indeed a Hindu kingdom. Restore Gyanendra on the Nepalese throne and do whatever you want to do with your Hindutva agenda. Do not disturb Maldives. Maldives is a Muslim country and has nothing to do with Hinduism.

Maldivians will choose who they want to lead them…Indians will choose who they want to represent them. Modi , our elected leader, will pursue India’s national interests vigorously vis a vis Maldives using all methods st his disposal . Muizzu will also likely do the same….in the end who will win ? We will see, time will tell , but for sure India will pursue its national interests to the hilt
