Let's hope not. Personally, I forgot this movie was even a thing until it got here. I had no plans to see it then and I have no plans to see it now.

Same here, but just before posting this I noticed the movie had like a 96% audience score on RT, and I'm just like "Oh boy, this is gonna be Aquaman all over again..."

@@BullSession Aww, I liked Aquaman. My only real problem with it was there was too much CGI and I think that made some of the action feel weightless. I definitely want more Black Manta in the sequel, though.

I prefer the original Sleeping Beauty movie, it's my favourite Disney movie of all time. I prefer my Maleficent to be pure and whole heartedly evil.

Honestly, I disagree with one thing you said. I feel this kind of story does have the potential to hurt the original version. People that might have never seen the original might have the idea that, as you pointed out, she is somewhat heroic and that is certainly not anything that the original movie conveyed. When a modern movie has to go this far out of the way to make characters interesting or make it "their own", it does have the potential to stain the original version (at least until they see the original one and then it will make them question what it was that they just watched).

What bugged me about Maleficent 2014 was how it essentially ended with, "And that's what really happened cause I'm the one they call Sleeping Beauty." It'd be okay if it was just a reimagining but to say the beautiful original movie that was crafted by Walt and his original team of movie animators made was an incorrect version just feels shamelessly wrong. Like they wanted to take a shit on the original for some reason.

Ok so I thought "Mistress" was kind of good until you pointed out all those issues. I liked the theme of the humans attacking the fairies and making it an "us vs them." Also, I thought it was interesting that Maleficent has technically been established as not that evil anymore, and everyone is terrified of her and thinks she is still evil just because of rumor. I remember seeing ads for Maleficent in 2014 and being so excited to see it. Then I did see it and I was extremely disappointed. Over time, I've decided that "Maleficent" is a good movie if you completely ignore the original cartoon. Like you, I love the original Sleeping Beauty, it's by far my favorite Disney movie and possibly my favorite animated movie in general.

My review of the original Maleficent is pretty much the first minute and a half or so of this video. I don't really have any strong feelings towards it.

alaster boneman SPOILER lol he even forgot to mention that there is a genocide in this movie which is gonna be completely ignored and they are gonna have a wedding while corpse dust is in the air like nothing happens. I swear this movie’s climax was a mixture of ; Holocaust, GoT Season 8, the red wedding & infinity war

This is why I can’t stand other people. Maleficent is not the same as sleeping beauty, it’s a different version. And it is awesome, both movies are awesome. It is special and yes I wanted a sequel, I want a 3rd maleficent. Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean it’s bad. Yeah the second one could have been better but it was just fine. I’ve watched it several times already in theaters. 😡

You're wrong about the CGI; the effects in this film are great. I really enjoyed both Maleficent 1 and 2 - I thought it was fun, creative, exciting had great music and effects.
