22 years old and already a national team vet, Mallory Pugh discusses her life as a soccer prodigy and what comes next.
Mallory Pugh has been considered the future of the U.S. women’s national team since before she could drive a car. After being called in to the USWNT at age 17, she made her Olympic debut at 18, turned professional at 19, and then won a World Cup at age 21. In this episode, Mal and Kelley discuss her meteoric rise to soccer stardom and what comes next in a career that is still just getting started. Mal reflects on her Olympic and World Cup experiences, her decision to turn pro after only three months at UCLA, and what she’s learned from betting on herself. Mal also discusses her recent omission from the USWNT Olympic qualifying roster and why she sees this temporary setback as a turning point in her career.

Not only is she the cutest thing in the world she’s a fucking badass on the pitch. Girl can play some soccer and she’s a crazy goal scorer. She could be one of the best forwards in the world if she stays healthy.

mal played more freely as a teenager. she took more risks. she’s my favorite player. she’s ONLY 23 now and doing GREAT with the red stars. hopefully, the best is yet to come. overthinking = shutting down. that’s half my life story.

Mal is a gifted athlete. Everytime she steps on the PITCH, I get excited. We rant and rave over male champion athletes, I'm personally in awe of these females that AMERICA just blew off for so many years after they set the standards. I'm so glad they're getting their well deserved recognition, respect, and most importantly, PAID..... Great interview ladies. I wish both of you the best moving forward in this life. Mal, always remember what a strong woman you are. I love the beat of your heart, and head.
