Today I want to show one of my favorite hairstyles for short hair!
In this hair styling tutorial I'll share my technique for achieving easy and trendy waves for short hair. Grab your flat iron, and a one and a half inch curling iron, and your favorite heat protectant - It's crucial to protect your hair with a heat protectant and one of my all time favorites is the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer.
Now I’ve got a bob, but these techniques work just as well on longer hair!I'll be showing you a unique wave motion technique with the flat iron, focusing on the top layers of your hair. Then, we'll switch to the curling iron to create loose curls away from your face.*Remember to comb through your hair to avoid frizz and make any necessary touch-ups.*
Once the curls have cooled down, you can separate them with your hands. To add a relaxed texture, I suggest applying something like Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Soft Texture Finishing Spray. For long-lasting hold, finish off with something like the Kevin Murphy Session Spray Strong Hold Finishing Hairspray.

I love it Mallory, it just adds a whole other look to your haircut which is just so very versatile. I cut mine into a Bob too, I've had it that way before, but I found moving to California that the heat was intense and my hair is thick and I felt I was wearing a blanket on my head. What you’re saying is I could’ve figured out my hair struggle an ENTIRE year ago!? I keep my hair collarbone length and every time I curl it, it gives seventh grade school dance. Finally, I can style texture into my hair and look my age. Although I need to nail down the curls in the last layer since I only have a straightener to work with.

I watched this video about 2 years ago and now I am rewatching it as a refresher - that's how it good it works! The only thing I changed is, I don't use the curling iron at all, I just use my straightener to curl the top. Great tips though honestly. ➰👏🏻

Can I just tell you what an awesome service your providing to humanity by posting this stuff? I took my hair extensions out a couple of days ago after having them in since 2018 and my hair not only is super fine and I have no idea how to make it look good anymore. It’s also pretty much wrecked and only Bob length at this point your video really helped me to understand how I can actually style my hair and, make it look halfway decent during the grow out phase! Mall! I am due to get my cut and color the 4th but will have to try and get it done a lil earlier now. It looks like they will have to scope my shoulder, possible rotator cuff repair. Cross your fingers, light a candle, say a prayer or whatever you do if anything for me pls? Also, my Faded Clementine palette and lipstick came in today and as soon as I got home from the surgeons office I took off my olive green fall look and put this palette on....OMG. I am so glad I finally took the plunge. Bad news is, now I need them all lol I am thinking this will be my favorite though.

I know this is an old video, but how do you prevent your crown area from being too greasy with the liquid products? I have lots of fine hair, looks pretty similar to yours. I never put product on my hair in the crown area and that is the first area that gets oily and then I have to use dry shampoo because I can't (and don't want to wash my color treated hair everyday). Help?

Yay! I just watched a similar tutorial you did a couple years ago (?) and bought some of the products and the T3 1” curling iron you used. I really struggle with waves and end up looking like I’m wearing a Stormtrooper helmet🤓 Hope that gum wore off sooner rather than later. Such an awful feeling😕
