No back up center, no back up power forward, poor back up point guard, young guys are second round picks … there is too much reliance on Jokic to bail us out.

I do agree it seems the team took Jokic much for granted this year. It will be an interesting offseason both from external changes and internal improvement -GJ

MPJ had his best NBA season so far, _and_ he was better than Jamal these playoffs. But it's still unacceptable to disappear for a whole series when you're paid that kind of money. You just can't do it. And that goes for Jamal as well, no more playing himself into shape during the season, he has to step it up big time.

Playing the young dudes??? Have you seen the young dudes we have ?? The strategic mistake Booth did was stack too many rookies without balancing it with enough veteran seasoned guys on minimum salaries !!

I do think that at least one of the rookies should have been a two-way instead, and 1 more decent veteran *could* have helped some, though the minimum market was overall not great last year, and there is always a question about who the front office actually tried to get but maybe they didn't want to come to Denver/wanted to go somewhere else instead. Unfortunately, we'll never know -GJ

It’s fair to be critical of the young dudes. I just mean Christian Braun, Pwat, and Strawther mainly. I still want some new veteran back ups. We can’t develop them without giving them game reps.

It's easy to say "just keep KCP" but what if he gets $23m offer like Bruce Brown? They can't just pay him without going deep into the 2nd apron, and that hugely limits their ability to get other players down the road. They still haven't replaced Bruce Brown. Reggie Jackson was unplayable and didn't score in the last 3 games of the MN series. No way that Jalen Pickett who played in 27 games and averaged 1.6 ppg during the regular season and played 11 playoff minutes is going to be ready to be the backup point G in the playoffs next season. Bruce Brown gave Denver 26mpg and 12 points in the playoffs by comparison. No wonder Jamal was so much better last year! The unpleasant conclusion is that the right move is to trade Michael Porter and break up his $35m salary into 3 chunks and get veteran backups at C, PF and PG who will be ready to give significant minutes NEXT season. There is just no way that Strawther, Pickett and Hunter Tyson will be ready next playoffs. Jokic is going to turn 30 next February. They can't just wait for the young guys to develop!

I think the problem is losing KCP is significantly more limiting for roster-building than keeping him, even if it means going into the 2nd apron. We probably lose the taxpayer MLE option, but if we lose KCP for nothing, we can't keep that salary slot. you are correct that the only concern is the 2nd apron though. i wouldn't compare it to Bruce because we were literally *barred* from matching the offers he got. With KCP, we can pay him, it's just a matter of whether we can stomach it. From my reading of the CBA, there are new options to try to get an extension deal done with him before free agency so we don't have to risk another team offering him so much that matching the offer would cripple roster options. So, that would be my ideal outcome -GJ

Sell MPJ this summer, while you still can. You can't rely on a player who scores 7 points in a deciding game at home. Plus with his height, he could have become a new Pippen. But it seems he is not interested in playing defense.

How about Jamal Murray was injured and leave it at that? This finger pointing and blame culture shows that Denver won't be back. Your head coach has a history of clashng with the front office. I'd start there. The Lakers were getting 70 points in the paint because of Jokic.

It's not about how hard he trains, it's about how smart he trains. Working out with his dad? Is his dad a professional strength and conditioning coach? With some practical and theoretical background? He is constantly getting non-contact soft tissue injuries, which means, most probably, he is poorly physically prepared. Or just trains in a bad way... Regarding his inefficiency, one of the reasons is a lack of games played but also horrible shot selection. I watched all Denver games in the playoffs and a lot during the regular season. Jamal, at moments, has such bad shot selection that it's annoying... For instance, against Minnesota, there were a lot of situations in which he tried to post up Ant... Wait a second, bro, you aren't bigger, you aren't stronger, faster... What the hell! Then he tries bullying but bounces back because Ant is rock solid, and then it ends up with a crazy fadeaway, stupid shot! His attitude is as if that's a mismatch, but it's far from it... Whenever he took good shots, he would score most probably... So the conclusion is to train and play smarter!

The playoff shot selection was certainly not ideal in those moments, but I think that Jamal probably has pretty good shot selection. I think conditioning would help with that anyway because being able to drive more consistently and get higher quality/easier shots -GJ

@WhatsinaGameNBA Definitely would help! Regarding shot selection, most of the time it is acceptable, but in critical moments, not really... For instance, and I am trying to be objective, those two shots against LAL were bad ones... but they went in! So many situations when those didn't go in... I feel like he can improve that aspect of his game a lot... I still feel bitter because of loss against Minnesota... Denver had them and then...3rd quarter...complete chaos!

Point Guard and a Center for the bench is a must. By the time the 2nd round picks get good enough to play (and thats a IF) Jokic will be at the end of his career. CP stays he needs to stop all the talking to the ref's. Tired of all the Nuggets crying to the ref's. A waist of energy.

I get feeling that way. There is a lot Malone could have done better this whole season... In my opinion, watching the coaching carousel throughout the NBA the past couple of years, I think Malone is pretty good, and as long as he is willing to keep reflecting on his own areas for improvement and growing from it every year (as he seems to), I'd rather have his continuity... But it is definitely fair to criticize him and ask the question -GJ

Jokic played 34 minutes a game. None of their other starters averaged more than 31 minutes per game. There is a coaching gene where a guy flatly refuses to play young players. BTW: Kyrie Irving missed the same number of games as Jamal. Finger pointing culture in Denver is a bad look.

I think the team will probably just give Jamal the max deal because that is what the Nuggets do (overpay a little), but the details and incentives in the contract will be interesting. Best case scenario is he just finally plays up to it! -GJ
