I think the meaning of this is that Brian's family is more proud of his alter ego than himself, also the fanbase might do the same In the end where it says "Raputin's", only Trixie claps, because she was made by Brian and is proud of him, but when he says "Puppet" (making it Raputin's Puppet) everyone starts to clap, because they love Trixie, not Brian, they love the alter ego and not the person who MADE and CHARACTERIZES the alter ego

It's amazing how you portray the puppet-person metaphor. Trixie recognizes how Brian is worth it, while the audience can only pay attention to the puppets at the center of the stage. You may not be really known by the huge amount of people around you, but you know yourself, and that's what matters after all. Thank you, Tracy!

Does anyone else tear up watching this? Just so happy my gal is doing what she loves,so outside the "RU Girl" box. Plus she is always so super sweet IRL,her and my 12 yr old daughter talked for like 7 minutes at a meet and greet.
@tricityladytn7 жыл бұрын
Trixie always seemed like the most real, down to earth of all the Ru Girls. I thought she was robbed in her first elimination on season 7, but I really started to cheer for her when she told Ru about how she got her drag name. There is power in owning your tormenter.

Ok but at the end he goes “Let’s hear it for Rasputin’s...” and only Trixie is clapping, but when he says “...puppet!” everyone else starts clapping. Do y’all think this is like symbolic to how people love Trixie, but Trixie is Brian’s puppet?

No, I think Trixie claps as soon as the song is over because the lyrics speaks to her (and the girl in the back) in an other way than it does to the others in the audience.

Wow, I'm so impressed by the depth of this song and how she explored the ways drag benefits but also constrains her life. I've gained so much respect for Brian and Tracy as a musician
@mmullins29837 жыл бұрын
This video has depth to it that I don't think a lot of people are seeing: Brian is behind the scenes making the music happen, while a puppet on stage takes the credit. Hmm. 🤔
@lorenarocha24587 жыл бұрын
Exactly! It was such a well-thought song and video, makes me look at drag in a different and bittersweet perspective.
@discotiq7 жыл бұрын
I think that's part of the fantasy of drag. But I for one have a hard time not imagining the person out of drag "under" the performance sometimes, which is the other way around. But this is particular to Drag Race queens, because we see so much of them out of drag in the show.

Grumblebuzz And the lyrics talking about being alone in the road, "looking sad but looking pretty", about the lack of knowledge about his dad and asking himself if he's "doing right or doing time" in his life. This makes me worry a bit. But it's beautiful and l love how personal it is 💗
@musicexec22297 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right, Grumblebuzz. This video is practically 17th century art. Wasn't this song also co-written by Haydn and Mozart? No one else gets it. Why, Grumblebuzz! Why don't they get it!
