I never got the language issue since I often don't understand what they're singing in rock songs and rarely ever look up the lyrics. I actually pay a lot more attention to the lyrics in songs by Mamamoo than western songs, partly because their MVs are often so cinematic and full of visual metaphors and poetic imagery that I get intrigued enuf to want to figure out the multiple levels of meaning in them, or at least my interpretation of it. Btw, Mamamoo debuted in 2014. Hope your bro was impressed enough to check out more of their songs. Mamamoo is one of the most fascinating and talented groups in kpop but the kpop label is really irrelevant - they're world class singers who make great music together and as solo artists.

Especially in my community, it’s so hard to get some of my friends to just LISTEN to the music and not be caught up on the fact that they’re singing/rapping in another language.

Another unique thing about Mamamoo fandom...it is _perfectly ok_ to say "I just can't pick a bias from among them"...because at some point, every other member will bias-wreck you and steal that crown, if only for one song. They are that amazing. Picking biases is k-pop fashion; as Mamamoo has said repeatedly, they make their own fashion! So don't feel you have to "follow the rules".

I listen to a lot of kpop songs while working and it's a good thing I don't understand what they're singing about or else I'll get distracted. If you just dig in a little deeper, korean music is so rich with different genres. One member of mamamoo, wheein (in the suit) is almost like an indie artist when doing her solo music so I also discovered a lot of new underrated artists from her. She often works with other artists not based on popularity but talent.

You might enjoy their relay dances too. I think HIP is the most watched relay dance.
