About:
Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the show is set amongst a larger- than-life junkyard playground and is alive with our favourite feline characters including Rum Tum Tugger, Mr. Mistoffelees, Macavity, Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Grizabella and Skimbleshanks.
The Jellicle Cats come out to play on one special night of the year - the night of the Jellicle Ball. One by one they tell their stories for the amusement of Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, who must choose one of the Cats to ascend to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.

I believe it's called Tempo Rubato (stolen time). Sideways explained it in his video on CATS, basically it's when you mess around with the internal structure of whatever you're singing to make it sound organic. You can use it to make up for having slower diction during tougher parts by physically slowing down now you sing, and then speeding up again to catch the orchestra during the easier parts.

Very powerful performance of Betty Buckley indeed, but just take the part where they both sing "Touch me its so easy to leave me all alone with the memory of my days in the sun" - Most singers sing it in two parts, with a notable breathtake after "leave me" and "all alone". Betty Buckley sings it with notable pauses between all four parts, and that kuills the singing part for me. Mamie Parris sings it on a sigle breathtake - it is much more prefessional that way, and she even makes it look... EASY.... Damn she know how to breath during a dufficult part, and she even MADE IT MORE DIFFICULT (the original is with a single breath itake) ... just because she can.

I still prefer the og singer for the background. it needs to be a pure voice. the background in this wasn't good enough. but the lead singer is amazing.
