If you buy an RB, you had better like it because it may be impossible to wear one out. I have two. I bought my first one when they first came out and after 32 years in a studio, it is still working perfectly. I bought the 2nd from a photographer who decided to go digital and made me a deal I could not refuse.

Absolutely, I bought two. One of my lenses I bought from a seller had oil on the lens blades and it jammed the body. I sent it to a service tech and he said the camera is in great shape! These tanks were built to last. Get some good lenses and you have a great system. I have the 50mm, 127mm, 140mm and 180mm, also picked up two new old stock extension tubes and a power back.

they made these by the bucket load, studio I was at, while they had a couple of blads for the bosses to do field work the RB67's were the studio workhorse, usually two in every studio room and at least 4 spares so maybe 16 just in one studio. 20 years later I picked up my 67 with 7 lenses, rail hood, spare viewfinder glass, and 10 backs (including 2 motorised ones) for pocket money (under $250)

Nice video, good explanation. I have the Pro SD with the 50,90 and 250mm. I put on the prism finder and right-hand grip for shooting handheld. A real conversation starter. When i first got the setup I was talking with an old time photography store owner. He mentioned that for the most part the whole concerns about mirror slap are unfounded.

These cameras are heavy but can be used hand held. The photographer that photographed “Bliss” which was the popular windows wallpaper was shot on the Mamiya RZ67 which is also a large camera. I equate it to a large format camera without the movements.

The RB67 is a great camera system. I use one for portraits and a second one for product shots. I use the following lenses: Mamiya-Sekor C 50mm f/4.5 (77mm filter) Mamiya-Sekor C 90mm f/3.8 (77mm filter) Mamiya-Sekor C 140mm f/4.5 macro (77mm filter) Mamiya-Sekor SF C 150mm f/4 (77mm filter) Mamiya-Sekor C 180mm f/4.5 (77mm filter) Mamiya-Sekor C 250mm f/4.5 (77mm filter)

I use rb67 for outdoors and it is great and I can get along with it's weight but the size of the camera and lenses and accesories doesn't leave any free space for any other camera in my backpack besides rb. While with hassy I can take also 35mm cam with several lenses as well which is great for a long trip.

Nice Video, thanks! I used the proS and the proSD as a prof. from 1990 to 2005 mostly outdoor portraits and weddings with lenses from 50 to 360 (very special was the SF 150) , and the weight is not the problem , you can work with this handhold easily. It was my first really good medium format camera, before I had a Pentacon six and an Exacta 66 . I have still a SD with a 90mm. Mamiya lenses I use also on a Cambo Actus with a Canon behind. But I get more inspired to use my RB again with film.

I keep coming back to it, myself. Perhaps it's because it is my only 6x7, but also the sharpness of the images (when I want that). I can't imagine using it at weddings. Not only would that be many rolls of film, but a sore neck!

My first medium format film camera was a Mamiya C330s. I absolutely love it, and if you don't have one yet they're well worth it. It's lightweight (relatively speaking) and very easy to use. I do wish that it had a removable back, but the fixed film path is worth the trade for such a compact camera.

I would love to add a C330 to my collection. I'm waiting to stumble across one. I really to like TLR's. The angle of shooting makes for great images.

Great video both clear and friendly approach and very listenable. I like the lighting and colour on your set. Just one point - the RB and RZ lens fitting is not a bayonet - It is a breech mount as used on the 16inch guns on battleships! Some Canon lenses were once breech mount in the 60's.

@@FilmCameraObsession Yes breach mounts are really great. The old Canon breach mount was super also. They are super reliable and hold the lens and camera super well. The only issue is that it was hard to put electrical contacts on the canon breach mount that is why they changed. It isn't clear any mount (even screw mount) is as secure.

I had one back in the late 80s/early 90s...LOVED it...unfortunately, after my stroke in 2002 I had to liquidate my photo equipment...wish I had it back - with a digital back. I too had a Seikonic light meter - I had spot meter also...

@@FilmCameraObsession ...yes...hadda sell it post stroke but loved it while I had it...if money (and, sadly, interest) wasn't an issue I'd get a digital back, but since my wife passed away my interest in many things is pretty much gone...interest in DOING...not interest in looking...she was responsible for gettin my interest in doing back post stroke - when I met her...love that camera...for a while i wanted to get a 4x5 view camera and experiment with B&W once again...

It is all good while it works good. I just bought mine in a perfect shape and now I see it’s a bit broken , the red lines are not moving away when I rotate the back and also I have problems with film winding, rewind lever gets stuck

Sir, while I admire your love for this fantastic camera but, you are wrong about the "light meter", I am one of the few people who have a prism finder, it needs a small battery, it is somewhat complex but after spending hours to figure it out, I did. I have 6 prime lenses and four backs. Some idiot dumped it ~ 20 years ago, I bought it really, really cheap, I am lucky. I will prefer this over Hasselblad & Pentax 6x7, these 2 cameras are OK but they are not built like Mamiya which is solid like a tank (not the Russian One though).

My first film camera! And I still shoot with it a lot. I just had a student shooting with it last week. I think I hooked him on film. I can't keep him out of the darkroom now.

one other PLUS for the Mamiya over the Hasselblad is that for wide lenses, just add it onto the body, NO need for a special body (SWC) as this system is designed that way, so fisheye and extreme telephoto (350 &500 mm) are just the lenses, NO extra stuff to carry around, other than the prism, lenses and handgrip.

I actually really like the 90mm here for landscapes. Too wide and features get lost. I have used a red filter on this lens for black and white and the images are stellar!

For landscapes, I primarily use the 90mm f/3.8 normal lens, the 50mm f/4.5 wide-angle lens, and occasionally, the 180mm f/4.5 telephoto lens.

I have been a freelance photographer coming on five years now, and fortunately just found a Kowa SIX mm medium format camera at an antique market. As close as it is, I’ve been wanting either an RZ or an RB67. I have an offer from someone who’s the owner of an RB67 Pro S and they want to trade for my Canon 6D/battery grip/50mm 1.8. He’d be including a 127mm f3.8 as well as a 220 back. Does that sound like a fair deal to be making? Thank you.

I guess that depends on the condition of both cameras. The 220 back doesn't mean a lot, but the 127mm is a great portrait lens. Do you know if the RB has CLR'd recently. That would help. How much cash is he asking for the RB? If you are a freelance, you will still need a digital for larger and faster jobs. Nonetheless, the RB67 Pro S belongs in your quiver. Your clients will love the clarity.

You know, Leah, I do have a light haze in my 127, and it seems to focus "differently" than my 90mm Sekor C. A comparison video would be interesting.

The pro SD is the newest one...the film back it used does not have foam seals so much better system also it will take the most recent apo lenses and 6x8 motorized back

Those SD backs are useable on a Pro S. Unfortunately they are about $160 instead of 80. @@koby1960

Hello. How would you compare glass from hassy and rb? Are they comparable

Hello Ivan! They are very different. The Mamiya glass is sharp and crisp with beautiful depth. I would describe my Hasselblad lens, a Zeiss Planar f2.8, as "silky" with a vintage contrast and not as much depth.
