Both Mammootty and Mohanlal used to do more than 30+ a movies a year consecutively during the 80s and most of the movies used to be big hits and them giving back to back world class performances even in such hectic schedule is a cinema wonder❤

Havent seen Mammootty ever opening up so much in an interview. This was a different side of "Not So Thug response" Mammootty. Indian journalists are mostly interested in asking other actors the experience of working with him. All nonsense questions but this guy did ask some really good questions and what goes on in his mind. Good interview!

@@ams619 Totally agree. Instead of making the interview a praising forum which most of the Malayalam interviews are, this guy got something really new out of Mammootty. He seemed to have opened up and one more reason to respect him as an actor. Maybe one actor who has over the years made himself as one of the best actors purely because of his hardwork and the collaborative risks he has been taking from his initial days. A main reason for his longevity

“Ikka” is an endearing way of calling an older muslim man in kerala. Hence mammootty + ikka = mammukka. Fahadh is called fahadh ikka lovingly by his younger fans 😊

In my younger days, you select either one of Mammootty or Mohanlal, not both. Now in the span of a few years, in his 70s of all ages, he managed to make me an ardent fan along with my fandom for mohanlal. Mammookka is nothing less than genius actor and a genius producer, based on the movies he is both producing and based on his acting.

Mohanlal and Mammooty used to do a lot of films simultaneously with ease. But what's amusing is that if they do 2 films at the same time, they make both of them classic. There was no compromises or shortcuts. Full dedication like he said. That's why even today's Malayalam films cannot even reach the level of those 80s films.

I just saw a photo of Amrish Puri on the wall. So here is a amazing fact about that legendary actor. He started his carrier in his 50's and acted in 450 + movies. He died at the age of 72 in 2005.

In the years 1983, 1984, 1985 and 1986 are the years he acted most number of films in a single year. At that time he was a rising star and favorite for families…In all these years he acted about 34 or 35 films each year… in most of the films , he was the hero or second hero… only in few films he had less screen time…. At that time many films shooting will be on in same time… he will act in each film in different time schedule of a day at that period….

Mayalayam movies finished with in 30 - 40 days in 80s. Mammukka started his career as supporting actor. so he used to do 30 movies a year in his earlier career.

About the 15 years thing, i think mammootty is right on that one. Cinema as we know it, 2d,written, directed and directed by humans will be around for 25 more years max. After that we'll start consuming another form of film and sure mammootty's name will be seen on the books but no one will remember him with the kind of fondness we remember him with.

At the time he done 38 movies in an year , he was a Superstar. It happens in 1986. He was ruling the industry at that time. So it is not as a Background artist. Maybe some of the guest appearances. But no more than 2 or 3

Mammookka means Mammu brother . Ikwah or Ikka as it is pronounced in Kerala, means brother in Arabic. So it is like saying Mammu bro ! While the word bro is used in the west between equals, ikka is a more respectful mode of addressing, such as how you would address an older brother. Quite a large part of the Muslim community in Kerala are descended from Arab traders who settled down here over time. The first masjid in India was built in Kerala. It is the Cherman Juma Masji in Kodungalloor, Kerala. So it is typically how you would address a Malayali Muslim man when you want to show him respect, rather than just calling him by his first name.
