Whenever you are back in California at Disneyland, take a trip up north to San Francisco to visit the Walt Disney Family Museum. I’ve been there a couple of times and highly recommend it. There are some good restaraunts in the area too. You can also take a peek at the Lucasfilm campus nearby and take a few pics of the Yoda statue out front.

I went to this exhibit in May and the second we walked in, I knew MAM had to see it too. It’s just chock full of SO MUCH detail and history and every section had things that hit in the feels. I am so happy Molly and Alan got to do this and that they get to share their experience with all of us.

I’m so glad y’all got to see it and it brought you both so much happiness!! 🤗 We were there the following day, and I was absolutely floored by everything there. It truly is overwhelming! If anyone else hasn’t been yet and plans to go, be aware that it takes a LONG time to get through everything. It’s a large exhibit. It took us just over 3 hrs, and about halfway through we started really rushing because there’s no bathrooms until the very end of the exhibit lol This exhibit alone is an all day thing! Edit to add that the music in the different languages was my absolute favorite part 🥹

The cartoon shown at 26:42 is from a late-1930s Silly Symphony called "Merbabies." Sea foam turns into little sea sprite cherub-children, who then have an underwater circus with different sea creatures. There's an earlier Silly Symphony called "Water Babies" that was similar (and cuter, IMO). My grandparents had a hardcover book about the Water Babies printed in the mid-1930s that I was obsessed with as a small child.

Hello Molly, Hello Alan I aboslutly adore all of your content. Last year I took a course at university on the history of animation. During that lecture I learned a very interesting fact that I have not known before. In 1926 „Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed“ (The Adventures of Prince Achmed) by German film maker Lotte Reiniger was released. It is said to be the first full length animated film (65 mins) ever released in cinemas. Like you mentioned and I had also previously thought, Snow White and the seven dwarfs is usually named as the first full length animated feature film. That is kind of true because all the frames were hand drawn and then through taking pictures of those painted cells a moving image would result. In German you would say „Zeichentrick“ (drawing trick). Lotte Reiniger’s film in comparison is made with silhouettes that have been cut out and moved after each picture. (One could say it is some kind of flat slow motion). Because she used another technique, which wasn’t the „Zeichentrick“ it is usually not included in the discussion of the first animated feature film.
I would absolutely love for you to check this film out. It is so very beautiful and artistic and is not talked about enough! (I think the film is on KZfaq :)) Keep doing the great work!! Greatings from Switzerland! Love, Gioia

I'd love to see you visit Walt Disney's home town in Marceline Missouri. It's a small town of about 2500 people. The Walt Disney Hometown Museum is there. Mainstreet USA in Disneyland was inspired by Marceline. As an adult Walt wrote, "To tell the truth, more things of importance happened to me in Marceline than have happened to me since, or are likely to in the future." They just celebrated the 100 years of Disney Magic in Marceline and Citizen donated a replica Main Street USA Clock to the Walt Disney Hometown Museum Garden.

I will not stand for Ariel slander 😂 Ariel didn’t change herself and give up her voice solely for a man. Her entire life she has been fascinated by humans. Yes, her seeing Eric made her curiosity and desire to be human stronger, but all of that was already there. Ursula saw an opportunity to capitalize on that. Not only could she make Ariel human, but she could make it permanent by making Eric fall in love with her. I think the tour of the kingdom scene shows how much she loved the human world and to be in it. Also, Ariel did save Eric from drowning and from marrying Vanessa so she isn’t completely helpless. Okay, I’ll get off my soap box now 😅🤣 Another great video! Loved seeing so much of the exhibit since I probably won’t be able to go. Might if teared up myself a few times. 🤍

+1 on the WD Family Museum being well worth a visit. I only went one time, but it was very entertaining and educational on Disney background. The model of the Disneyland that never was is outstanding, and also loved the train exhibits that (IIRC) were in that general area. (not that I didn't enjoy the rest of it, those were just my faves) And as a final reason to visit, for any Star Wars fans, you can also see the Yoda statue over in the courtyard at the Lucasfilm area of the Presidio.
