I’ve got to be honest I was well impressed with your wheel tapping skills 😀 🏁🇬🇧

Superb collection 😎👍🏻 In hindsight I suppose Mamod should have named the white car the Le Mans and the red car the Dragster 🤔😁

excellent racing by all competitors there !! A tricky little course but the plucky contestants all did their best - well done!!

Fun video. It would be pretty easy to make a little RC servo jig to put in the driver's seat to steer ithem.

This was a fun surprise. I came for the P50, but stayed for the Mamods! I've had an SP1 for 30 years and dug it out recently. Still works great of course as they're such simple designs.

They really are, I plan to get my young relatives into live steam in a year or so

Very interesting. Mamod toys are very rare here. I had to make my own steam powered Pop Pop Boat.

I have an old model steam traction engine that I inherited from grandpa, I haven’t run it in years and really need to tear it all down and go through it. While watching you push the Peel down the sidewalks all I could think of was how handy a steering extension like the ones these cars use would be lol.
@forwardtothepast24112 жыл бұрын
let me know how it goes, remember some burners use meths, some use tablets, BTW p50 steering extension could be handy

ironic its calle Le Mans but runs out of steam too quickly when its named after a 24hr endurance race.

If your really into Live steam Locomotives might I recommend Hornby’s Live Steam OO gauge I have a Mallard set and it’s been an amazing experience running it around the track,the smell of steam oil as it passes by lap after lap.

That was a lot of fun but why not convert to radio control? It would add a whole new experience to driving!

I would love to, I have since sold these models, kinda regret that, particularly the Le man's racer , but it funded my camper van

I was wondering how you were going to steer them

Do they come with a reverse gear? That would make it easy to convert them to rc!
@forwardtothepast24119 ай бұрын
yeah, like with any steam engine, you just run it backwards, so in effect they do have reverse
@SkysaxonDragonslayer9 ай бұрын
@@forwardtothepast2411 Thought they might have a transmission with forward and reverse gear…
@forwardtothepast24119 ай бұрын
generally steam engines dont have "gears" they tend to be direct drives, this is true of steam trains ect, with a mamod the steam simply enters a different inlet hole to the cylinder, but with more detailed models, and for that matter full size steam engines, being "one stroke" cylinders, you just change the direction
@SkysaxonDragonslayer9 ай бұрын
@@forwardtothepast2411 With an alternating gear transmission you can change the rotating direction. This method was used on early petrol and steam cars. You just need two crown wheels sitting on the drive axel and shift them to another crown wheel… … would be easy to realize on a model.
