The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy this holiday season helping a local man gift $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho. Secret Santa is a real person who wants to remain anonymous and hopes to bless as many individuals in our community as he can.
Kohner has a cochlear implant that helps him hear. He is very dependent on reading lips so the past few years have been difficult with many people wearing masks.
He was working as a bank teller when everything was shut down. He felt extremely isolated and ended up taking another job. Before face coverings, Kohner was able to cope with his hearing loss. Now he struggles and could really use a boost.
Secret Santa asked us to go visit Kohner with some early Christmas gifts. Watch the surprise in the video player above!

I noticed this too. My son reads lips along with hearing aids. Masks are difficult and he only has moderate hearing loss. I appreciate when people speak normally but look directly at him.

"Times have been tough." I can't imagine being partially deaf even with the implant, having to rely on lip-reading as well, but then having COVID hit and people masked up. Bless Connor and may good fortune attend him.

Many people w. hearing aids have removed a mask getting into their cars, etc and loose a hearing aid. Even w. hearing aids, hearing is never 'normal; so lip-reading is necessary. It is a major problem. It often takes 5 or 6 weeks to get new aids, and they are very expensive. Medicare does not cover them .

I totally understand what it’s like, I absolutely hate it when I can’t hear someone and they r wearing a mask, it’s near impossible to be able to Communicate with them, I sometimes have to ask people to lower their mask for a minute, they normally do it because I explain to them that I’m deaf and I can’t hear what they r saying, it don’t help that I don’t always wear mine because all my family and kids know I am deaf and they r used to talking louder for me so when I wear them I end up with a headache because they then sound like they r shouting at me, 😂 bless them, this young man is absolutely amazing and has a big heart, he was genuinely touched by the gifts from secret Santa, u could see he was holding back his emotions, God bless him, his parents have done an amazing job raising him! Looks like he has some great co-workers who care for him very much. The grocery gift cards will really come in handy in this age of inflation and high prices. How awesome he wants to throw a big Christmas dinner party for his family AND co-workers Obviously a very selfless person with a lot of love and gratitude in his heart who deserves all of this.

This is one of the best! Connor is exactly the kind of person for whom there are not other resources and he is doing his best to make it. I've heard so many stories recently from the 'disadvantaged' people around me who are joking about how much they are being given by various agencies, it's quite discouraging. I bet Connor gets a job offer from this! :) Maybe the oil change place?

I can relate to what Connor is going through. I lost my job at the turn of this year. I have recently gotten a new job, but its really hard keeping your chin up and keep a positive attitude and just work your arse of to get a new job. So what i want to say to Connor and others in that situation your not alone.

Oh my, what a sweet young man Connor is! Many of us forget how hard this pandemic has been for those with disabilities but Connor seems like he has the right attitude and is remaining positive! Lovely to see. Never get discouraged. And I love that he thought of his family and friends when it came to Christmas dinner. Sweet, positive and with a generous spirit. O know how it feels, I also have a hearing disability along with tinnitus and I also work in a grocery store and depend on looking at people's faces and reading their lips to really understand them and thoes who wear masks makes it extremely difficult. Even up to the point where I can't efficiently help my customers. Anyways ..... so happy for the young man and God bless him always

This man is sweet & definitely deserves to be treated well. I would like to say thank you to Nate, he shows such empathy & love to all of the people he & his crew deliver gifts to. It is so good to see someone who models the best parts of humanity, the past few years have not been easy for many people when we see poor examples of behavior & lack of compassion for others. What this Secret Santa, East Idaho News, the crew & Nate are doing revives my faith in my fellow humans that the good people do outnumber those who allow fear & malice to influence their actions. I am working from 8am till 5pm and then small break and then I am back at work till 4am but each time I am watching your KZfaq videos my world is better and I am grateful for what I have.
