Great game, but holy shit if it wasn't a nervy game lol. Defensive masterclass, and that's without Tibo, Militao (for the most part), Alaba and Tchouameni. Gave away very little in actual chances and defended great, city really couldn't create anything (people will point out city had 33 shots, but the quality of them wasn't good, "big chances" stat was actually tied 3-3). Only chances city created was the KDB miss and the one where Foden missed the ball. Goal was a mistake from Rudi, who played great except that moment and even scored the winning pen. Orsato (the ref) was actually pretty good (only bad thing is Dias got away with like 3 yellow cards and Mendy got a card for a tackle on the ball), other than that he was great. Real Madrid don't play as a team, that's what all their rivals do. Real Madrid play like an army. Each player is a soldier who has to complete a mission to achieve a greater goal. I know last night's game was horrendous from a creative point of view, but there was a lot of beauty in seeing eleven Merengues heroes resisting the attacks of the indomitable Man City, the best team in the world without doubt. The reasons Real Madrid are capable of legendary feats are twofold. 1 the team never gives up. 2 not to cling to any one idea of style of play (to have the freedom and ability to play as suits our purpose or interests). I think most people overlook the fact that the lack of a "very defined" style is the best quality of this team as it is capable of playing in all ways. It is true that sometimes Madrid play as if asleep, lazy, but I think it is something emotional because as soon as a challenge appears and it seems "impossible" this word awakens all the senses of the team and they are able to do "the ever seen before". I can’t believe we are here!!! We made it man. Im with you on the anxiety that this game gave me. I was so nervous that it felt unhealthy 🤣. I thought Jude Bellingham was incredible. When he got the ball, his hold up play, the way he’s able to turn and find the right pass. I think it’s only right that next year he becomes part of our midfield and he has a De Bruyne type role for our team where he can come up and attack when he wants to.

Absolutely incredible match. I've been saying this for a while, but the "better team" isn't the one that has more shots on target or possession, it's the team that manages to execute their plan better than the other team. Madrid shut down City's offense yesterday. Out of 33 shots, I cannot think of more than 4 or 5 actual clear cut goal chances for city. Absolute defensive masterclass. We executed our plan to near perfection and would've gone through on normal time were it not for Rüdiger's error in the 76th minute. It's also very telling that city's only goal was nearly at the end of the match, and only due to a mistake, not their own merit. City could only resort to crossing into the box, instead of penetrating the defense like they usually do. City couldn't play how they wanted, because our defense was just that good. Don't let anyone tell you we played bad. We played exactly how we intended to, and we went through because we had more resilience and willpower than City did.

I don't think enough attention is being paid to what happened in the first leg, MC were extremely lucky by scoring 3 goals from elementary mistakes by RM whilst RM were playing open football. MC were lucky to still be in the game going to the second leg. From this it was clear RM would need an early goal and close shop in the second leg, an away match, that's exactly what they did ! Pep and his team would have expected this but RM still handled them.
