Just sayin’ but if you want to attract large animals, you should move to the countryside and buy a large parcel of land. I kinda agree with the Lyme disease reason for not attracting deer to the neighborhood. The lady and her husband should’ve been sensitive to the health of their neighbors. Before anyone jumps in and says the reaction of the neighbor was unjustified. I agree with you.

Hi! Indeed, the country is full of wildlife. My dear Mom came face to face (almost nose to nose!) with a large black bear that was napping under our deck over the summer. He grunted at her and she slowly backed away and ran into the house. Having spent a large part of my life in rural areas, and not hearing much at all about Lyme disease cases, I really don’t worry about it. We just check ourselves carefully for any ticks. But for people who maybe aren’t comfortable around wildlife, I can understand why they’d feel the way they do about it. Take care!

Had Neil called the police and then gone out the front door with the shotgun and not pointed it but told his wife to come inside, he might have had a defense claiming that he thought Todd was reaching for a gun! The moment he snuck out a window and hid in the shadows at the corner of his house he screwed up! The only reason to do things the way he did was for the element of surprise, he wanted to remain unseen to get lined up for a shot! I think he snapped and felt like he was being punished with the restraining order and his beef with the neighbor was now affecting his wife and kids. He knew when he climbed out the window that he was going to put an end to the situation once and for all!

I appreciate the self defense explanation. As most know, the elements required to be proven for a particular crime and those required for an affirmative defense varies from state to state, often markedly. This information is necessary for an adequate understanding of the case.

I went to maps and navigated Knollwood Dr. Its beautiful semi rural MN and there is snow everywhere for most of the pictures. Poor Jennifer. Lives with a guy slowly pickling his life away with booze, lives across from a guy with nothing better to do than be a massive dk to his neighbors. All she wanted to do was feed some animals.

Neil was free to own his firearms and think anyone was going for their belt at any time. The problem here was purely not enough guns. If everyone was carrying this wouldn’t have happened.

People suck and most of them are crazy. I can see both sides of this dispute and can understand why someone would flip their shit. Very sad it came to this, but the lesson here is to always be a good neighbor.

Deer Lord this was a tragic one! I agree that feeding deer could bring Lyme to the area. I've lived in areas where Lyme is spread that way. But he shouldn't have shot those dear deer people though.

Yes deer look cute to feed and watch but actually they can cause big problems such as eat all the vegetables and flowers you plant and bushes if it’s a drought season. Also, they do carry ticks, so it is a realistic concern, and they easily overpopulate in some places specially if they have enough food. What time I put flowers on a relative graveyard and I looked back before I was leaving in my car and I saw deer eating the flowers.
