Out of curiosity do you know anything about your Pullen family background. Reason for asking is that I have the Pullen's in my tree from early 1600's coming from Tytherington in Gloucestershire

Graeme, at the risk of making myself looking even more stupid than normal, I've been looking after my Dad since he found out he had cancer last November. He's in and out of Hospital and we know it's only a matter of time now, So I'd just like to say "Thankyou" to you and to Mike for easing some of my stress by providing these great videos to watch. If it wasn't for you two I don't think my brain would ever switch off from the misery caused by the cancer. It's nice just to come home after seeing Dad and relax and watch another Father and Son doing what we used to do. All the best and keep the videos coming "It really is appreciated". Matt
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew,Certainly not looking stupid ,and so pleased to hear the films we put out are providing at least some form of escapism in your time of stress. We get quite a few pm's as well saying pretty much the same thing from others,and to be honest just your comment alone is enough incentive to make me go out and make another film. I know exactly where you are coming from as my own Dad went at the tender age of 53...same thing.....we used to go fishing together,and one of my main problems was the loss of an old super 8mm film we made learning to fly fish in which we both went into Goon Show voices and fell around laughing. I wish I had that footage now to show Mike so he realises if his Grandfather had a screw loose and me as well then there is every hope he has the same sense of stupidity as well...I lost my Grandfather,father and other stuff inside the same year and thought my brain was totally cross threaded ...but if you think positive,give your brain a good kick up the backside you will undoubtedly come out the other side of it...Keep watching the films...plenty more to come !.Graeme (Check out Mike's "Show us your steak"film on T.A. Outdoors...Its motto is..."You are not alone"

@@TAFishing Thanks Graeme, I lost my Mum back in 2015 at the young age of 64 to septicaemia and the one thing she taught me is there are always those worse off than yourself. Your sense of humour's yours and Mike's are pretty much the same as mine and my Dad's so watching your videos is like watching one of us. I managed a couple of hours drop shotting (Yes I'm also becoming addicted to Mike's Fishing ways as well as yours) and although I didn't catch anything on (My first time doing it) it was nice just to get out somewhere quiet and escape everything for a few hours. My Dad has had a care package put in place now so hopefully things will get a little easier for me now and I can get a bit more fishing done. I haven't caught a pike in over 40 years of fishing so I'll be out after one of those soon. Many thanks for your kind reply. Matt

Graeme you have made day with this video, I was down Brixham a few weeks ago, about forty feet to Mr. Pullen's right in the video. Few tips: Breakwater car park is the most beautiful parking in the country, and easy walk to breakwater. Brixham Tackle is a really friendly shop, great place. Sea side of wall is ultra snag, possible good size congers. Float is good fun for most spring-autumn. Mackies there till mid autumn on a good day. Expect Pollack and wrass. Floated Mack strip or Rag will get you at least small pollack/wrass/gar/Mak in the summer, great for kids or beginners. ****Best chips in Devon from the cafe at Breakwater Cafe. If you know about their chunky chips, you know what I'm talking about!!!!*****

Love your shows !!! We were taught in Nursing School that in rain with chill winds you will lose 40% of your core body heat via uncovered head, and another 20% via uncovered hands. This is why it is so important to cover head and hands immediately if you find someone suffering from hypothermia symptoms. Also one of the reasons the Mylar emergency silver blankets are sized as they are, only large enough to swathe the upper body and head, it is better to carry 2 silver blankets than one, and a pair of wool socks in same bag. Even if your feet feel "dry" it is an illusion, once the shiver response kicks in feet will sweat heavily and are the first point in deep hypothermia that the body re-releases warm core blood into. After dry socks put on use the old socks turned inside out to cover hands.

Used to fish there a lot, was not unusual to catch 3lb mackeral off the end in the 70's. That was a decent wrasse off of there. Plenty of big conger close in at night, getting them out of the snags is not easy though. Looks like there are still plenty of fish around there. Was a bit of nostalgia seeing this, great stuff.

TA Fishing Over the last few years out of Brixham the lads and I have chartered a boat called Spot on which is skippered by a chap called Ross. He built the boat himself with his father. He is excellent at taking you to the wrecks which actually have fish unlike some skippers who always come out with the classic "If only you were here yesterday the fishing was fantastic" line. We have always had great fishing with Spot on but as you can imagine he is very popular and trying to get a slot is quite hard, but if you're in the area and can escape the wife for a day I highly recommend him.

Mate just watched your smoothhound fishing with hardback crabs! You should have tried them off the breakwater there at Brixham wouldn’t be a surprise to catch a 4lb plus wrass there some monsters there! I fished there all my life Just imagine in the bay now on the inside but past the breakwater towards painton there seeing giant bluefin! My sister lives in Brixham but I live in Hereford. You met my mate nick on the wye when he had that 30lb pike! Nick really is a world class fisherman. He’s had a 4.5lb perch off the why and specimens in most species Anyway if you fancy some barbel fishing in Hereford I know you’ve been before let me know I’d love to come with you! Take care buddy love your videos My favourite favourite the free linned sprats with the old school double hooks ☺️

We have Usain on the line. LOL. It's been more than forty years since i last went sea fishing with my grandfather. Good times.

I used the Samson lures this year in Aljezur Portugal. They are just great in rough conditions like the Atlantic.

Cracking video as always graeme! Heart was in my mouth when you stepped up onto the concrete! Be careful mate, i don't want my favourite fisherman suddenly disappearing! ! But otherwise brilliant session! Well done.

Fished that spot in late September this year, every cast was a bass, not very big but every cast was a record for me.

Good advise on getting a snag. A few years ago me and my friend were fishing Cardiff bay before they built the barrage. He got snagged and lost his eye when the weight became dislodged whilst he was try to unsnag(probably not a word) his line.

I consider myself extremely lucky not to lose an eye myself,the lead came back in a millisecond and split my eyebrow open...bled like a pig..(Can I say that now ?..or will it upset the snowflakes ?)...anyway,I thought it worth pointing out as all anglers get snagged sooner or later and it might save someone a whole lot of stress...(The word "Unsnag" now forwarded to Oxford English for approval and inclusion !)
