I learn something new today. I always thought hydrostatic drives are a bad for any vehicle that could travel over 50 kph. I could only see them used on heavy mining equipment such as off highway trucks and some bulldozers. I never heard of a highway capable vehicle that can be hydrostatically driven and work. Well MAN has a long history of mechanical innovation and engineering with no comparison. It sounds very new this trucks unique drive. Always dreamed about but no one made one successfully.

One question, how do you shift gears etc from 1st to 2nd or 1st to reverse?

+Pasta Sarmonella E-Specialé You vary the displacement of the hydraulic pump. They probably control that electronically. Lets say the hydraulic motor is a gear with 8 teeth. The hydraulic pump can act like any number of gears with teeth between say 0.1-8 depending on the pump. To reverse it they probably have a valve that reverses the flow of hydraulic oil through the motor.

But, what is the cost of maintenance, parts and repairs?

I would mean its saves fuel but probably the cost of repair and changing of the components will be soooo expensive especialy to detect "A specific problem"

Bei den 2 Gelben kann ich es dir nicht sagen, der Rote hat 480PS die vollkommen für die erlaubten 40-41 Tonnen je nach Bundesland ausreichen. Ich hoffe ich habe dir geholfen :D

légyszíves ne vegyél Man-t! Egy ilyet vezetek és fos. A hydrodrive nagyon jó én meg vagyok vele elégedve de minden más egy vödör fost sem ér.

I drive a MAN truck with Hydrodrive and I do admit its awesome but everything else is a piece of shit on the truck.
