To say that it was ahead of it's time would imply that: 1. It influenced subsequent superhero movies. It didn't. In fact, the DCEU is actively moving away from the dark and brooding atmosphere established by Man of Steel, and the comparatively light-hearted MCU is raking in the cash. 2. It did something revolutionary. It didn't. It's just Hack Snyder seeing The Dark Knight and trying to emulate Christopher Nolan's directorial and storytelling style, without fully understanding it. The realism and grounded tone throughout and the way the characters are portrayed, make it feel more like a serious sci fi movie than typical superhero fantasy, and I love that. Not to mention the unparalleled visuals and action. None of the other dceu movies have this. ZSJL to me is just too fantastical and it feels like a crowd pleasing generic superhero movie. It’s the most uncharacteristically Snyder Snyder movie I’ve watched.

What even crazier is how that line predicted the reaction to the public reception to the film. It was very intentionally Metaphorical. That's why I believe that they had this universe planned all along. Also they film the movie in a documentary style to make the movie feel "real". It's just unfortunate that people project their feeling towards the situations in this movie's story onto the actual film itself. I was supposed to make people feel some kind of way for superman and in the end was a genius approach.

Yes, a lot of things look really good, and might be the best time to bring Superman back to life. But the movie itself includes too many useless characters that are not necessary for the story, the pacing feels a little bit odd, the reason why his human father sacrificed his life is a little bit odd too (he wasn't even trying to escape from the storm... just stand there and raised a high five like it was so cool and all) The idea of "The world isn't ready" so that Superman should let his father die is very, very unreasonable, and it's not so tear-breaking (which I supposed Zack Snyder tried to do) it turned out dull. Because in the end, he revealed himself to the world anyway, making his father sacrifice goes to vain, and almost destroy the entire city just by one fight (and suddenly, the city recovered itself so fast!) He even destroyed a power plant and blew the fuck out of gas station which could kill more than 10 people, just because he got pissed at Zod for hitting his mother!! And when the fuck did Louis fall in love with him ? If you look only at the story between these two, there's really nothing happening

The trailer did its job. It's what a trailer is supposed to do. Still one of the best trailers out there. The expectations were high and for an origin story, it got the ball rolling for the DCCinmatic Universe.

I hadn't seen any more Superman content since the classic movies in the 90s so the part of this trailer where he looks at the little key thing in his hand with the "S" logo hit me like a freight train: an almost forgotten childhood hero was _back_. And the fact that they never said his name, only giving hints here and there, throughout the entire trailers #2 and #3, only made that even more awesome. Just wish the movie itself had been anywhere near this good.
