Superman was faced with a no-win situation, having to choose between the people of Earth and Krypton. Superman made the ultimate sacrifice for the only world he's ever called home, by having to regrettably kill not just a man, but a fellow Kryptonian and possibly the last of his own kind. The result makes him even feel more alone, but in the same way, also makes him more human; having to realize that he is imperfect and will not have the answer for the every challenge he faces. He becomes the stronger hero by accepting what he cannot solve in this world, as he seeks the answers for what he can.

@MrChaotic46 жыл бұрын
For those of you who are pissed off at this, he already killed Zod in Superman 2 and in a much worse fashion! In that movie, he had Zod down and he crushed the hand of a now depowered and defenseless Zod and threw him in a bottomless pit. And after he does that, he's just smiling like a jackass. He doesn't feel remorse for what he's done. And to add insult to injury, Lois punches Ursa down the same pit and just stands there laughing with him. Are you kidding me?! At least when he kills Zod in Man of Steel, he has a legitimate reason for doing so. He has Zod in a headlock and when he uses his heat vision to back a poor defenseless family into the corner, he begs him to stop. And when he refuses, out of options, he snaps his neck and kills him. And afterwards he cries out in agony, and this was clearly a very emotional moment for him. But no! The one who feels remorse for killing his enemy, that's betrayal! That's blasphemy! But the one who laughs about it, he's the one everybody loves. You know what, are you people on drugs?

I really don't know why people say superman destroyed the city here...I mean it's obvious he's getting his ass kicked by zod for most of this fight, also the world engine...ya know the giant dubstep gun leveled most of the city before this fight even started, the rest was all zod just not giving a flying fuck
@Syryu8 жыл бұрын
+Shamelesscritique1 Yeah I don't why people blame Superman for the damage when it was Zod who did all the damage. The worst Superman did was drag Zod across an EMPTY building. I also don't see where the city was completely destroyed. When Superman and Zod start flying around you can clearly see a good 95% of Metropolis is still in tact.
@antoniocapozzi49438 жыл бұрын
+Syryu I am not native English speakers, so excuse any mistakes. I must say, however, that the extent of damage that metropolis undergoes during the events of the film is quite uncertain. The world engine seems to wipe out a significant portion of the city and the other Kryptonian spaceship destroys various skyscrapers when it crashes to the ground. The battle between Superman and zod seems to destroy or cause damage to various buildings scattered around the city. So probably 40-50% of the city should be destroyed or have suffered more or less serious damage, but when Superman and zod fighting in flight, the city seems almost unchanged and except for a few plumes of smoke visible on the horizon appears to be no serious damage. So unless metropolis is really, really huge and that therefore all the events of the film have caused damage to only part of the city, it seems unlikely that metropolis shown so little damage during the aerial battle.
@WengfeiLeroy8 жыл бұрын
+Shamelesscritique1 It doesn't matter if he didn't directly cause the damage, to the humans he's the only overpowered alien left, thus everything that overpowered aliens did become his responsibility.

NERD Incorporated Actually again most of the damage was done by the humans and bad guys, the united states military and their toys getting wrecked, funny how nobody brings up them firing a missile at faora and opening up with mini guns mounted on helicopters in the middle of a "small" american town. so supes wrecked a gas station and a ihop...the shame. To me the fucked up part is something nobody else mentions...which is while supes is ploughing the corn field with zods head he just left his mom back there with his troops. wtf

I love this movie because of this. It wasn't afraid to be bold and have Superman kill Zod; after all, no one is perfect and it would only make an already OP character boring, giving him flaws is exactly what he needs. He can learn from his mistakes in sequels, but I'm just glad that DC at their peak weren't afraid to be different and were okay with taking risks, now look where they are with Justice League, a laughing stock.

And to think that people actually think that Batman has any chance against Superman. They are delusional. I also find it funny how in the movie "Batman Vs Superman", Batman manages to evade Superman's Laser Vision. For those who might not know, Lasers are powerful beams of electromagnetic radiation. Laser beams can be made from visible light, x-rays, ultraviolet light or infrared light. This means lasers travel at the speed of light and light can go around the earth 7 1/2 times in 1 second. This means that if Superman fires his laser vision at Batman from anywhere on earth (Safe from the effects of Kryptonite), Batman would be Toastman 100% of the time because he wouldnt be able to see it coming, much less be able to react to it.

two of my all time favorite fight scenes are in this film and so many people bashed it and moaned, groaned, whined and complained. Tell me, what's wrong with it? Why was this so unsatisfactory? Are we so few that the majority of people cannot sit down, watch a movie, and enjoy it for what it is without being cynical and griping? I have watched the worst films on this planet, utterly terrible films. one had no lighting and was filmed outside at night so you couldn't see anything and another movie had completely wooden acting and the plot was so simple yet poorly done that it took me multiple tries to sit through. Despite this, I still get the people that still say, with every film, "this is the worst film ever!" Same person, different movie.

We have to understand that Superman is not like Batman. He has principles, but if it will cost the death of someone, he'll do it if he has to. It makes viewers realize that some choices are hard.

One god kills another. A lover defeats a fighter, and the woman doesn't fear the victor, despite his power, but goes TO him. Notice how Lois doesn't look at Zod's body, she looks at Clark. He is overwhelmed, and she trusts him completely. That moment gets me every time.

Captain America, Iron man and all marvel heroes except spiderman kill the villian or their goons that pose no real threat and crack jokes afterwards, yet they are considered family friendly. This Superman kills zod who is powerful enough to destroy the world, does it to save humanity, screams out of grief from having to take a life, and people consider him a murderer. Heck even christopher reeves' superman kill a depowered zod who wsnt a threat and smiled afterwards, yet he isn't criticised. What kind of world do I live in?

Imagine if Superman, in the process of snapping Zod's neck, turned his head right, and his heat vision still fried the family. At first in theaters I actually thought that's what happened and why he screamed, because right after that, the family literally disappears. I'm pretty sure you never see them again

0:44 that right there was worth all the shit people complained about in both movies. Even Donner couldn't recreate Superman's fighting style with the groundbreaking effects he used in the 70s.
