I believe this is what we call "culture differences" Japan tends to be more subtle in their approach to these things, where an American would have shot him in the head. Then the American would go to jail for murder.

You are aware of the history between these countries, yes? I've heard majority of Asia doesnt look at Japan in a positive light due to the past which is irrelevant for here, most of Japan's past isnt even taught because its so severely violent. "Comfort women" is the least bad thing they did back in the day. They almost deleted Korea's language and culture among many other things. Of course modern day Japan is pretty good, hell to live in if you arent used to it, but pretty good all the same.
