Remarkable video captured a man rappelling down a cliff alongside a waterfall as flash floods ripped through Utah.

This is why you don't go chasing waterfalls.

Herein Utah, you can be having a 100* day with no clouds in site...then this happens from storms 10 to a hundred miles away. It's hard to know not to go out on a sunny day. I myself have rafted the river to the right of where this guy was driving and it was hot.... then in the bus on the way back we were hit with a waterfall comming off the cliffs to the left. youd basically have to stay home 4-6 months of the year to totally avoid this as the surrounding area is all clay and red rock, no water is absorbed like most places.

That's down the Kane creek river road, not the main roads bringing you to Moab.. just don't want to loose more travelers to Moab because of fear. The main roads into Moab didn't floor .

I'm pretty sure most (depending on the program, of course) have lodges they can shelter in. Also, the program coordinators very likely had a heads up in enough time to prepare them. Hopefully...😅

It looks scary, but he's not in any particular danger. That water isn't going to change its course. And he is not "rappelling down the rock face", he is free-rappelling.

If I was wondering if it was going to push me off the road I think I would turn back and wait out the storm at the nearest safe shelter.
