Yup, these may look funny to many but I have admiration and respect for these early attempts. Dreamers who had the courage to try. No one had much scientific details about the dynamics of flying at that time. So they had to guess things and just try. I highly doubt people in 150 years are going to laugh at 21st century jets. They will have more advanced technology (as long as the SJWS don't take us back to the dark ages) but they won't be able to laugh at our current tech because for the most part it works well. Some of the flying machines in this video are truly laughable and even by the standards of the day they were ridiculous, poorly thought out and incredibly naive. You have to appreciate that the machines in this video were created at a time when balsa wood gliders and combustion engines were already a thing. All they really had to do was combine the two elements to make a working aircraft, but instead built these silly bird wing replicas that they hoped they could flap with their own muscle. Foolish arrogance was behind a lot of this.
