A game of pickup hockey turned into a nightmare when one player went into cardiac arrest. Jib Street collapsed in a moment caught on camera, but thankfully one of the opposing team’s players was a doctor. Dr. Craig Bryant, an emergency room physician, stepped in to help Street and performed CPR. When that failed, he used a defibrillator, bringing Street back to life. The player suffered a serious heart attack and spent six days hospitalized, but is expected to make a full recovery. #InsideEdition

@Peter Evans well... not every kid will play hockey. That’s pretty normal too. (To those kids? Hockey is work because they’re not used to keeping their head up while using their peripheral vision to keep track of the puck, they’re not used to having the skates dig into your ankles, and they’re not used to playing hard. (They’re not gonna be comfortable with the constant pain that’s in your lungs till the moment you get off your shift and count down your next one while hoping you had enough time to quench your thirst and catch a breather)
@ghost-whitesand9447
@ghost-whitesand9447 3 жыл бұрын
@Peter Evans to be fair... you don’t seem like you actually play hockey too, by that I mean you’re a poser/ankle bender. (Because there’s a lot of work to playing hockey. You’re gonna have to focus on your check/player from the opposing side while being aware of where the play/puck is, you’re gonna have to keep your head up and look around while using your peripheral vision to keep the puck in front of you, and you’re gonna have to be okay with being roughed up/hit/shot by the puck/slashed/tripped/slamming into the boards and all those little things.
@ghost-whitesand9447
@ghost-whitesand9447 3 жыл бұрын
@Peter Evans like hell... even when I’m a goalie... I get burnt out. (Your eyes bother you from focusing on the player with the puck and your peripheral vision on the player he’s most likely gonna pass to, your legs bother you and start to feel like your hamstring is at the point that one more spread eagle would cause a little tear or getting back up too fast) because hockey might be a hobby/past time but it’s work too. Especially if your end goal is to win a championship for your town in a hockey tournament.

Great stuff. Amazing to have competent life savers around. Don't understand the fuzz about the paramedics not being able to skate, though, they've got shoes on, that's probably why.

Cpr keeps blood circulating to the brain while the heart is shocked back into a more normal rhythm. Aeds don't start the heart but more or less "reset" it

What a wonderful story. It’s so reassuring to know that no medical professional is ever off duty. They’re all saints walking amongst us.

Wow, incredibly lucky situation for an incredibly unfortunate event. Emergency room doctor and defibrillator present, plus he was even wearing a helmet when he collapsed on the ice! Thank goodness Dr. Bryant plays hockey, he helped save Jib's life by taking charge and doing CPR. Great work by everyone involved in getting this guy the help he needed.
