I like this defense but I tweaked it to be a high pressure defense by teaching my players that are defending one pass away to not allow the pass and deny with hand out in the passing lane. This makes the ball handlers to think twice when looking to pass. Especially when they stop dribbling. The defender on the ball then steps into the ball handler and executes pressure defense without touching the player. Also on D I teach that if we're running this defense although it's man D. They are not assigned a particular player. They are too recognize and react to the ball and not a player. The closest person to the ball becomes the defender of the ball handler and the others are to switch and fill in appropriately.

Good teaching points

I think I'll drill 2v2 with just help first with my 8-9yo. With man to man defense they were expending alot of energy up in their the person they are guarding denying the pass where nobody can even shoot from.
