Man Transforms 'Back To The Future' Cars Into Bizarre Creations

A MAN who collects DeLorean cars has transformed the classic Back To The Future vehicles into a monster truck, a limousine, a hovercraft, a convertible and a Time Machine Replica. Rich Weissensel, a software engineer, is fanatic about the two-door sports car and owns five custom creations - including a stretched DeLorean Limousine - and three stock DeLoreans. The 50-year-old has re-modeled the stainless-steel shape of the iconic cars into bizarre and brilliant automotive creations in an ongoing, 14-year series of projects. The projects started after Rich met the car's founder John DeLorean at the Cleveland DeLorean Car Show in 2000 and showed him some of his ideas and sketches. Rich from Chicago, Illinois, built a custom hovercraft using the stainless steel panels of the DeLorean and a hovercraft cushion which allows the DeLorean to float over any surface.

GlitchyMine 217 dmc IS back. Guy named Stephen Wynne bought all of the parts and stock from after the factory shut down. They provide service and parts, and can even build you a ‘new’ DeLorean from new old stock parts. Some of the more rare parts they’ve even had reproduced and made new, with upgrades or enhancements. Gull wing doors are stupid expensive to maintain that's why there not used very often. First (like he said in the video) just aligning it is difficult. Also the way they worked in the DeLorean is a special steel rod had to be frozen in liquid nitrogen in order to twist it then very quickly insert it into the frame in order for it to hold its spring tension. Not really a procedure any run of the mill mechanic can do if your door needs to be fixed.

This is absolutely awesome!! I would love to do coverage of these cars. It's hard for me to pick a favorite, because they are all so creative. I think the limo would have to take the cake though, that is just hilarious!! Great work!

There seems to be a world wide demand for DeLoren cars. Of which only a few were built and as a car were not all that brilliant anyway---That said has anyone considered building REPLICAS. I am sure there would be a demand

Will all the people who said "He destroyed those DeLoreans" shut up? He is a hard core DeLorean fan (like everyone who said that) and he wants to show his love for the DeLorean. Also imagine if he just build regular DeLoreans for 20 years? it would get boring but seeing a DeLorean Monster Truck, well that doesn't happen every day. He didn't destroy those cars he rebuild/repurpose them and he had Fun doing it

To quote Bob Moseley from Bob's Prop Shop to so-called purists - "Why don't you just buy every Delorean out there, put them in a warehouse, and that will stop me from converting any more (into BTTF Time machine replicas)?" Delorean made around 6,800 cars, and only eighty to one hundred were converted into non-stock versions, including BTTF time machine conversions. Never mind that the conversions triple the value of the Deloreans thanks to the movie. Considering how such a tiny percentage of original Deloreans were converted into non-OEM, could you purists please shut up about comments crying about conversions? Or just take Bob's advice instead?

Well.. You CAN lease a car directly from Tesla, or you can choose to rent via an agency that purchased it from them, but you can also definitely own your Telsa 100%. Three colleagues of mine have one and I guarantee you that they all own their car...

I don't know where you heard that. You most definitely can BUY a tesla. A lot of people lease them for tax breaks or finance through tesla so they can be part of the buy back program in 3 years. However you always have the option to buy it.

Saw a De lorean at a motor event where a wind energy company had cleverly converted the car to an ev.The take off speed from standstill was phenomenal.You had to queue to see the De lorean whereas the supercars barely got a second glance.Brings a whole new meaning to "back to the future".

The hardest about repairing and customising these cars, is they are stainless steel, and filler would be difficult to hide, so he's done an amazing job with these.
